I need info about using pvc or mdpv or hdpv for pontoons ???

I want to build a small two man pontoon boat, and would like to use inexpensive locally available items for it's construction...I have seen pontoons of this type, but do not know where to get the end peices, or how to mount my frame structure on them...Any ideas, or wholesale/salvage places that can accommodate me would be appreciated.. Thanks !!!

First of all PVC pipe is not cheap, also did you mean hdpe type pipe. Do you want to make a paddle boat type 2 man pontoon or one with a motor? if you want to make a paddle type mounting is pretty easy because you can use different connectors start Small with a pro to type . I made one out off 2 ten foot pieces of PVC that was 6 inches water mains,on the ends I just used end caps they have them that are curved on the ends that made the pontoons for the seats I used 2 old plastic stacking chairs that I mounted on 2, 5 foot pieces of 4 in pipe in the middle I used 2 in pipe to make a square that was 4x4 that was drilled into the top of the 4 in. pipes the 4 in pipe was drilled into the 6 in. pipe to make cross pieces then I chalked the holes I have yet to take it out in deeper than about 4 feet of water but it will hold me and my brother both of as are almost 430 lbs. and it stayed a float sinking less than half of the pipes so I'm sure it will work the trick is to make it big to disperse your weight evenly. I hope this was helpful if not at least interesting. Good luck with your build my friend, B.

Come forward and tell the family?

There was a man on a motorcycle trying to get away from the police. The police were not aggressively chasing him. Just kind of tailing him, knowing there was nowhere he could go. We live in a very small town. The motorcycle hit a parked car and took out the passenger side window with his head and the bike kicked out from underneath him and hit a pontoon boat. The police and EMT's says that he died on impact, but I know that is not true as well as at least five other people that saw it. He was laying there moaning and looking around while the police and EMT's kept putting a cover over his face. Two people ran up to him and the police told us to back off. This is really bothering me.

What is the best that happens? It won't bring him back for that family.

What is the worst that happens? You become the key witness in a wrongful death civil suit between the family and the Police/EMTs. Are you prepared for the possibility that the press will be sticking cameras in your face and that you will be the star witness in a big high publicity case. Are you prepared that your memory and credibility will be called in to question in a court room and in the media? How sure are you that the man was alive?

Shouldn't Christians be modest in their clothing?

What do you think about this? I am only asking other Christians here.

From a Christian Forum:

During this past Feast in Montego Bay in Jamaica, one of the more enjoyable activities during the Feast was an afternoon cruise in a catamaran. This is a fast boat built on pontoons which has both a motor and sails. Most went snorkeling. My experience not so successful. Visited Jimmy Buffets, a bar on the seashore that had large moored plastic rafts and innertubes, and a water slide from its second floor that dropped a rider into the Caribbean. The salt water stung my eyes: It’s not like swimming in Lake Michigan! But many of the young women and teenage girls (boat on pontoons) trip in ocean by Montego Bay in Jamaica during last Feast. Most wore bikinis or something else highly revealing. As a man, I knew I had the duty to keep my eyes from looking in certain directions. But should I have to do this during an officially organized church recreational event? It’s one thing to me to have to do this when walking around the Holiday Inn near the pools and beach when I was around people in the world, but why here?

S.P.S. We Christians have to fight the world’s fashion trends by wearing modest clothes ourselves instead of skimpy, revealing clothing.

I Timothy 2:9-10

What does “modesty” mean? “Webster’s” defines this word as meaning, “freedom from conceit or vanity . . . propriety in dress, speech, or conduct.” It isn’t “cool,” or the “in,” thing to do, but it’s what God commands. Is trying to fit in with the world our main goal in life? Should our clothing look the same as the world’s? It did on this boat trip during the Feast in Jamaica. It didn’t on the trip to Dunn’s River either, when we climbed the waterfalls.

My radical thinking when meditating on this later: Why should women’s clothing be any lower cut than men’s clothing? Casual men’s T-shirts are not low cut. Think of your typical rock and roll band T-shirt with (say) “Black Sabbath” or “Van Halen” emblazoned on it. So the difference in how men and women dress isn’t merely about comfort in hot climates merely. Men have less they need to cover up than women, but ironically cover their upper bodies better. Women’s clothing also dysfunctional: One of my jobs at work is to adjust thermostats up and down as needed after people complain. Here’s my general observation: At the same temperature where the men are comfortable, women are cold. Then when the men are hot, the women are comfortable. Two possible causes: Men’s metabolism is faster than women’s. But women also wear less: Men wear suits at church services but women often wear skirts and blouses. Therefore, much of women’s clothing is not merely immodest, it’s also dysfunctional!

We have two extremes: Conservative Muslims who wear not just the headscarf but also the veil. Jack Straw was recently the foreign secretary of Great Britain. As a member of Parliament, he once stirred up some trouble by asking his female Muslim constituents to remove their veils when talking to him. BBC News: “Asking women to consider showing the mouths and noses could lead to true “face-to-face” conservations with constituents, enabling him “to see what the other person means, and not just hear what they say.’” He said (WSJ, Bret Stephens) that “seeing people’s faces is fundamental to the relationships between people.” It’s harder to read someone’s emotions and to know what they think if you can’t see that person’s facial expressions.

But the fashion industry of Western society these days at the opposite extreme. To what extent do we as true Christians resist these trends? My impression from this boat trip is that we’re dressing nearly the same as the world around us. All of us need to dress for Christ.

My answer is no.
and I didn't read all that just the gist of it.
Just because I am Christian doesn't mean I shouldn't wear things that are appealing to me.

Your idea and my idea of modest may be two separate things.

Have a good one!!

Cinn =)

Are Sevylor fishing rafts any good?

Has anyone tried these Sevylor fishing rafts on a river? I am considering buying one - they are really inexpensive relative to other boats but they have been around for quite a while and seem to have mostly positive reviews. I'm am just wondering if I should buy one of these or if I should buy a one man fishing pontoon. I would like to be able to have a friend or two come along with me from time to time but mostly just fishing smaller slow - medium moving rivers in Montana. If anyone owns one of these and has tried it please let me know ASAP if it is worth the investment. Thanks!!!
Thanks for your response - I am going to get the 12 footer - just bought it off of amazon. I was going to get the 8 footer but I want some more room, I don't plan on using it in white water but I am going to use it on a river that has a few mild rapids that I have floated on inner tubes before so I imagine it should be ok.

If your goin' ta' use her on rivers, what size/length is it (might want ta' add details)? Sevylor are pretty decent and at the price one can't really go wrong. Had an 11' 3" Intex Seahawk which we used on lakes, ponds and rivers (not whitewater type) and she did us right. Had a' Motor Guide 30lb., thrust electric trollin' motor w/ Sevylor mounts on her which made the lakes and ponds even better. Word to the wise, when casting, one has ta' be careful ie., that rubber is not compatible with hooks <);-3

Note: Came with a' two way manual pump but, switched over to a' battery operated Coleman, which made it easier inflating...

  • Three charged boat looting in Brisbane – Ninemsn | SabDesi ...

Three men have been charged with trying to steal boats washed down the flooded Brisbane River.

Police patrolling Pinkenba, in northeast Brisbane, saw a man using his vehicle to drag a pontoon to the river bank to retrieve a dinghy at 4pm (AEST) on Wednesday.

The man, aged 67, from Brisbane’s inner-city suburb of Paddington was charged with looting.

About an hour later, police say they found two men, aged 19 and 20, allegedly trying to steal a three metre dinghy from the river, also at Pinkenba.

Those two men, both from Wynnum, were also charged with stealing by looting.

All three will appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court next month.

Police are warning any person found stealing property displaced by the flood will be arrested and prosecuted.
