What is the most capable minivan for pulling a pontoon boat?

Would you suggest pulling a pontoon boat with trailer?

for a minivan, id like at either the chev astro or ford.i think the ford is rear wheel drive ( if it isnt omit from contendors list ) and i know the astro/safari is rear wheel. the front wheel drive models tend to have trouble with traction on the ramp because of the tongue weight pulling the front end up. i would also go with the biggest engine availible, and if transmission is equiped with overdrive,do not tow in overdrive gear range,as this will burn out the gear ( it isnt meant for towing ). also look at towing capacity of vehicle, and the weight youll be towing,if not sure, load the boat up with fuel, and everything else you are going to take out on it,and go to the local scale.that'll give you a definite tow weight. if possible for your situation, look into an extended cab truck.( i assume youll have more than 2 people riding on the boat,(hence the minivan ). youll also want to be sure you have at least a class 3 tow hitch installed. class one is only good for 2000 lbs/1 ton. a class 3 is good for 5000/2.5 tons

how do i search for titles for a boat in arkansas?

This guy has a Pontoon boat, trailer and motor that I would like to buy but he said the lady he bought it from will not give him the titles, so he's selling or parting it all off for cash or trade. How do I find out about this, I sure don't want to buy anything that's stolen!

As of current state law in Arkansas, boats/PWC's do not have titles. They have ownership through the boat registration.

However, if the pontoon was purchased in a different state than Arkansas, most likely the boat and the trailer will have a title.

However, all trailers registered in Arkansas do have titles.

It is the current owner's fault for not demanding the trailer title and the boat registration be signed over to him BEFORE paying for it.

Unfortunately, you should avoid this advertisement all-together. An owner without legitimate ownership paperwork of boat registration (Arkansas) and trailer title is not worth the headache buying from.

Shop around a little bit more and be much more patient, if you are willing to pay a reasonable price for average quality condition, you should find something that suits your needs WITH proper paperwork.

Keep in mind if you wish to do any skiing, kneeboarding, serious tubing, or wakeboarding in the future, you should NOT pick a pontoon boat. Pontoons do only one thing well, ferry people around and that's about it.

An early 1990's deck boat with a 90HP or more engine in good condition with passenger capacity of 8 would probably fit your requirements well. Not to mention you can actually tow people with it.

Protect your boat by replacing worn out bunk carpet
Boat trailer bunk carpet

Best solution for our trailer bunks?

We have an 18 ft pontoon boat trailer and are needing to replace the carpet on trailer. Carpet is coming apart from trailer and boat is extremely hard to come off trailer in water. What is the best solution for this problem? We considered replacing carpet and also adding slides on top of carpet. Anyone know of the least expensive place to purchase these from??

Trailer manufacture companies always use a 100% "Polypropylene" fiber bunker carpet. It's thin and sheds water quickly, and doesn't rot or mold, and is somewhat slippery. Marine carpeting never has a "Backing". It's tougher and is interwoven within itself. That type of carpeting lasts for years unless it gets torn or damaged.

Using "Household" carpeting can work, but doesn't last. Indoor carpeting is usually made from polyester with a cotton/jute backing. By being wet/damp, it'll break down faster and causes "Sticking" issues with the hull, especially if the boat sits on the carpeting for extended periods.

You can by "Bunker" carpeting from places like West Marine, Cabela's, Bass Pro shops, and boating supply companies online. It's cheap and should give you years of use. I own two boats on trailers, both have the carpeting as original from the builder EZ Loader. First trailer is 1998 and the other is 2002. Even the 2 x 4 bunkers are in good shape. You can add "Slick Stix" to the top of the bunker after replacing the carpeting.

I have a 24 foot pontoon boat and would like to take it off the trailer and set in my driveway?

I would like to be able to work on the boat in my driveway in my driveway I am looking for any suggestions on how to set it on blocks thanks!!

When I worked for a Boat Dealer when a teenager, we used large solid styrofoam blocks, not sure where you may get those. You may try wood and make like a 2'x2' foot pad with some old carpet on top. I would be afraid a narrow block may dent the pontoons from the weight. But, you should be able to figure this out. You could go to a marina or boat dealer and may see how they block theirs for a better idea. The hard part will be getting it off the trailer. You need to slide the boat back on the trailer so you can block the back and then slowly pull the trailer out blocking again maybe every 6 feet. You could tie a rope to a tree and boat and pull forward with your truck/car. Get the back about 3 feet off the trailer then move to the driveway. IF, there a place to tie the rope in your Garage/Driveway you just do it all there. If, you can do it in the drive, you just keep it tied and slowly pull foward setting blocks where needed. As the weight on the back gets to the correct point it will raise in front until the blocks catch it. I would have my blocks as high as possiable. This make Trailering later easier. To retrailer later you may have to disconnect the trailer from the truck and raise the tounge in the air to start under the boat. Then attach the winch and start winching onto the trailer.once it gets under the boat a few feet try having some help and push the tounge down and hitch to your truck OR keep winching until you can Teeter the tounge to the ground, this gives you a downhill angle and help the boat roll on easier as you winch and then hitch up to your truck. This the best way I know without a lot of equipment. Some people rig up jacks similar to those used for those in bed Campers on a truck.

What's the best site to list my 24ft Pontoon Party Boat for sale?

I'm in Western Maryland and I need to sell my Pontoon Boat w/ 70 hp Mercury and trailer.

here is a link to your local craig's list, there are several pontoon boats listed for sale for price comparison

http://westmd.craigslist.org/search/boa? query=pontoon&catAbbreviation=boa

you can also list on boat boss

http://www.boatboss.com/boats/-22_Maryla nd/

another idea is to post a flier at the local marinas (bulletin boards) and even at local grocery stores that have for sale boards (3x5 cards).

hope this helps
