Pontoon Boat Flooring

We just sold our last one in April because the wooden deck caused the carpet to always be mildewed no matter what we put on it to inhibit it. We had it covered and it was still horrible.We spent most of our time cleaning it.The man that sold it for me said there are other kinds of flooring. Does anyone know about that? thanks

The solution for this is to use synthetic deck material. This is available at home depot or lowes in the lumber department. It looks and functions just like wood, but is made of a high strength plastic composite that is weather and mold and mildew resistant. Than just cover it with marine carpet, Which will have to be replaced every few years no matter what.

I have the logs from a 18ft boat. It need a floor, rails and a motor seats and everything else. I was thinking about starting a new project but I was curious as to how much money I will have to dump into it. Thanks

You may actually be better off buying used. Cheap marine seating can cost upwards of $1,000 for the basics. Not sure about rails.

I just redecked my 25' toon last year. I got furniture off Ebay for $1200, but had to drive six hours to get it. Used engines in the 50 horse range can be had for as little as $300-$500, but a new 50hp will cost you about $4,500. Figure roughly 100 bucks per horse in that range, but you can get some deals.

Rigging for steering, throttle, shift, and all the lighting, will cost you roughly $500 new, but again, used is available on Ebay or in boneyards. I started with a beater boat, but the rails, motor, etc were already there. Oh yeah, the rails are very pricey. You'd be money ahead scouting the papers for a solid used boat that you can rehab.

If indeed your floor is leaking, you have bigger problems since the pontoon should hold the floor off of the water.

The previous sealant seemed like a rubber product, something like we used to see in the seems of city sidewalks. Can anyone help?

The sealant as you call it, is a joining compound that is epoxy resin that has MEK mixed in it to make it flexible. You can find what you need in regards to material and process application at this website: http://www.epoxyproducts.com/flex.html

We have owned a bass boat and we liked it but we wanted a more comfortable ride so we got a bow rider. We always like to take out friends and family and we've outgrown our bow rider..So now were looking for a new boat but can't tell which is best for us. WE want to fit at least 10 poeple and we want some floor space but we also enjoy camping and thought it would be cool if we could sleep on the boat I like the idea of a cuddy but we use our boat on weekends mainly for partying.. What kind should we get??

A pontoon boat would be your first choice for 10 people. Unless you want a 32 foot deck boat. Or a 40 foot plus cruiser
