replacing carpet on pontoon boat with epoxy finish sand for grip. Any suggestions or alternatives?

Have 2 dogs that make cleaning of carpet difficult thought if just epoxy I could wash deck down.

If the wood is good and dry than epoxy paint marine will do fine just watch the sand finish not to gritty or it will wear the pads off the dogs and if U sit down it will wear your bottom. There is fine nonskid in place of sand unless it's fine fine sand.

What is the best way to remove suntan lotion from the carpet of our pontoon boat?

We normally just pressure wash the deck.

Shampoo (the kind for oily hair) - it has degreasers built in but is gentle enough to not damage the carpet. Works on oily stains in the laundry too. Just make sure it's only shampoo - not shampoo plus conditioner.

On average, how much does it cost to have carpet installed on a pontoon boat?

My husband is a "do-it-yourself" kind of guy, but it is taking FOREVER to scrape the carpet off, etc. How much do marinas usually charge to put carpet on for you? By the way, we have already bought the carpet so don't include carpet cost. Thanks so much!!!
Oh, and we live in upper SC if that makes a difference. :)

Largely depends on the layout and size of the pontoon deck. If the pontoon deck is properly prepped for new carpet, and ALL items removed that had carpet laid under them.

Some upholstery and carpet dealerships perform this duty as well, make sure to get referrals and get estimates.

I estimate somewhere at $275 to $400. Depends on how many difficult cuts have to be made to keep the carpet as one piece.

If the pontoon deck is not properly prepped for laying marine carpet, expect to pay about $100 to 150 more for them to do it.

How can I stop the growth of moss on my carpeted pontoon boat deck?

The easy and most accurate answer is to get rid of the carpet... I know, it looks nice, and it doesn't get as hot... etc. but fact is... where their is damp carpet... their is mildew - and I would bet money that what you think is "moss" is actually mildew - as it can certainly look like moss.
There are pontoon flooring options and alternatives to carpet... Vinyl is probably your best; but, if indeed you want to keep your carpet, then I would suggest a small power washer.
I know from experience that if you roll it up and take it off - (as the other person suggested) you will not only find that to be a pain in the you know what... you will actually have a worse problem when you unroll the carpet again. You will only do that once, and you will never use that carpet again.
Years ago, I invested in a small Sears powerwasher. If I remember correctly it was just short of a $200 investment... and it was one of the best things I ever did for my boat...
I tell you... I clean everthing with it - from my upper helmstation to the bottom of my hull (yes, even while it is in the water).
I loaned it out a few times to boat neighbors in my marina, and most of them have since purchased their own. I use mine about 6 times a year on a regular basis, and maybe two or three again when something comes up and I really want my vessel to look "ship shape".
Course, this is not a prevention for mildew (only clean & dry is that... and you won't find that on a boat; but it sure does a quick and easy job of getting it all off...

Pontoon Boats and carpet replacement?

I am in the process of replacing the carpet on my pontoon boat. I am thinking of replacing it with indoor/outdoor carpet tiles. Can these be used on boats? Has anyone ever done this? and if so, how did it turn out?
Thank you for all the answers. It has been helpful and well as informative.

make sure you use a rubber back carpet invest in some good stuff
the plastic looking shag is better to work, with and less expensive butt it sheds and does not repel the water.
the good stuff hard to work with, butt feels a lot better and repels the water well, buy all purpose carpet adhesives and stick it down at temp higher then 50 degrees and you r done and use a good hook knife or carpet knife.....
