Pontoon Boat Building

I am building a pontoon boat out of a 1988 Bronco II on 20' pontoons. I am using a gear system for driving dual props. But I am having trouble devising a steering system. The pontoons are spaced wide enough that I could attach "steering boards" to the wheel hubs. But I am trying to look for a few other ideas first. any help would be appreciated.

Are you using the same steering that was in the Bronco? I guess I'm trying to picture how your Bronco Pontoon Boat will look after it is completed. Is your steering end of the Bronco facing the rear of the Pontoon?

Anything as far as bouyancy? Can I have too much bouyancy? I am planning on using 55 gallon plastic drums filled with expanding foam.

Stability, strength, seaworthiness, power, hydrodynamics. How are you going to attach plastic drums together?

I am building a pontoon boat out of mild steel, i'll be building literally everything for it except maybe the toons because they would take longest - i have calculations for bouyancy and all that good stuff all i need to know is what is the rule on weight limit and amount of people for the size, Im making it 19 foot by 8 foot. I live in North dakota but will be using it mainly in Minnesota, any idea on how high the toons have to sit out of the water at full payload, etc. Anything you know on these regulations would help. I have all the information I need for life vests, fire ex. and all that just I need the design regulations, such as whether or not rails are REQUIRED and all of above. Thanks.

ive built homemade boats before so im good with tools, but ive never made a pontoon boat, i plan on building a small one man fishing boat, what materials could i use for the pontoons?, i do have some 55 gallon drums i was thinking of using, but what could i do to make them more hydrodynamic

You'll want to add domed or conical end pieces to the leading edges of the first two barrels. You could probably get a sheet metal shop with a rolling machine to fab up conical ends. Be careful if you are considering welding the drums and verify that there are no explosive fumes in the drums. Four drums, the minimum I would consider, is 1600+ pounds of displacement.

I'm building a pontoon boat and i need to know were i need to connect the wire to on there. From the steering wheel and other electrics I'm putting on there. i wont to make it a party boat. that's two stories.
