Old Pontoon Boat

I was wondering if you could turn an old pontoon boat into a pedal boat where you have to pedal it to make it go instead of it being electric or gas. Is it even possible? If so could someone throw me a few links where people have done it or examples on how to do it? Thanks.

My old cajun bass boat it in pretty bad shape but the motor (a 90 HP Johnson) runs like a top. At least it did when I last cranked it two years ago. I used to own a lot on a private 800 acre lake but sold it. Now, I want to explore the local public waters but my 16 foot boat doesn't take waves very well. There is a 33,000 acre lake near my house that gets quite rough in those unexpected summer storms. Anyway, is there any advantage to selling my old boat but not the motor then finding a pontoon boat with no motor and putting mine on it?

A 90 HP motor is PLENTY big for a pontoon up to 24 or 28 feet. Most toons use 50HP, and 35 was the popular choice up until about 10 years ago.

I have a 24 footer and it will do 19-20 mph with a 50 on it.

Beware though, pontoon boats are not good in large waves. Three to four footers are pretty hard on a toon, and if water washes over the deck, you stand a good chance of losing rails, furniture, etc. Pontoons are really for calmer lakes. Just make sure that the motor is the right length (most are 20") so that the cav plate is in the water the correct amount.

I have an old pontoon boat that I want to get ridiculous with- I've thought about installing a BBQ and a diving board- maybe tiki torches to get totally sick with it- What are your craziest ideas?

We have an, I think, almost 10 year old Lowe Pontoon boat, and it has been sitting under a metal awning next to our garage for the last two years. Its very dusty and dirty and has caked on dirt too, I guess. I was wondering if a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser would do the trick, or if I should try something else.

the magic eraser would work on getting out the oxidation color after the pressure wash. i use the generic brand for many boating discolorations and they work like, huh, magic!!!

dont know what type they are but its on a old homemade pontoon boat. its 18 foot and has 3 chambers per side. I put 10 psi in and it seemed to ride a little low but not sure if i should put in more or if this would cause damage.
it is metal and has 3 air valves.
seems to look seaworthy and didnt have any troubble on the lake just not sure if it takes air and if so how much.looks like all other pontoon boats i have seen.

Are you talking of a metal pontoon boat or a inflatable? Metal pontoons are vented not pressurized. Must inflatables boats run 3-4 psi. But seeing that is home made, take it to a dealer and have them look at it. It may not be sea worthy
