my family renting a pontoon boat for a big lake for a party and i was wondering, how fast can most pontoon boats go, can the go fast like a speed boat or are they slow boats.
Pontoons are NOT made to go fast like a speed boat. But there are some that will get up over 35 MPH on the water. More than enough to wake board or water ski behind. Best is for just tubing though.

I'm renting a 24' pontoon boat for 8 hours and will have 12 people. What else can we do besides drink and swim? I don't think the boat will go fast enough for tubing or skiing. Anyone know of any games or other activities we could do?
really that is about it. That is the whole point of pontoon boats just hang out with friends drift lazily in the water. I mean you can fish but outside of that drinking and swim i dont know what else you would do. The only other thing i could think of would be go to a pool supply store or even a large store like meijer, walmart,etc and get a floating basketball hoop or a floating volleyball net some kind of games like that. Just drop anchor somewhere that's like in 4 ft of water and play there.
I know you wouldn't go fast, but can you ski / innertube / wakeboard? And by Pontoon Boat I also mean Party Boat.
Yeah, of course! It's not as thrilling as it would be behind a smaller boat, but it's still possible.
