Aluminum Pontoon Boat

We were miles from the marina, so all we could do was find shore and stand there in the pouring rain. we were surrounded by trees and of course the aluminum boat. No shelter anywhere.
What should we do?

Your supposed to squat down so you wont be the tallest thing for the lightening to hit. you sit on on the balls of your feet, with shoes on and don't touch any metal. You would have been safer on Land than the boat stand away from the trees on an open spot..You might get wet but you wouldn't be as likely to get struck by lightening.

I have a 24 foot pontoon boat. It is a 1988 Weere's brand.The aluminum on the railings are already painted a light tan and brown, and I would like to update the color some. The aluminum has a pitted look, not smooth to the touch, so I don't know about the sanding part. Any info would be great. Where do I start? Thanks.

you will have to sand then primer it

I know this varies....do you know approx? or where can i find out?

i would guess around, 3k to 2450 lbs. just find the displacement and subtract around 1500. there will be your answer. you can get displace ment by the botto of the boat, to the surface of the water, now measure width, and length. add togeather, and now figure a gallon of warters weight, and wallah your weight.

I live in northeast AZ & I am willing to drive a reasonable distance to pick it up. Have found only one on eBay in the last few months - unfortunately Wisconsin was a bit too far away.

have you tried the boat junkyards? a lot of times you can find decent stuff there!! or call around to boat dealers and ask if they can give you some direction, good luck!!
p.s. you could always make one!
