28 Pontoon Boat

Will My 2003 s10 zr2 pickup pull a 28 ft. pontoon boat safely? Most trucks I see pulling boats are full sized pickups. I'm looking to buy a new boat,....but I don't want to buy a bigger truck.

it depends take a look at your owners manuel it will give you a recomended max tow weight. then take a look at your hitch my truck can down soemthing like 6000 pounds but my hitch is only3000 pounds you might have to get a new hitch or what not then check the weight of the boat and trailerl;

Look on the Coast Guard capacities plate and see what the boat is rated for. Pontoon boats are inefficient, so I would install a motor as close to the maximum rated power as possible.

I was thinking about taking a large pontoon boat (28-30 footer) and making it such that I could camp on it with my family. It would be great to take my generator with us, but the muffler would be too loud. Would it be possible to retrofit the generator (3500 running watt) to pipe its exhaust down under the water line like boat motors do?

Not a chance. The back pressure on the exhaust will create more heat because the motor has to work harder. If you have a loud generator, leave it at home. Nobody, and I mean nobody wants to hear a motor running all the time and disturbing the quiet. I have a genset onboard two of my boats and they are quiet and don't disturb anyone, even onboard the boat. The biggest problem is the carbon monoxide put out by the engine of the generator. A land based generator does not take into account for that since it's used in a open space away from stuff. On a boat, you have confined spaces and places for the deadly gas to accumulate.

We bought a 1990 28' Sun Tracker party hut. I need to find out what the canvas looked like originally. I want to make the canvas covers myself but the canvas on the boat is so shabby it cannot be used as a pattern.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

It is far cheaper to just order one from a source that makes replacements. You will get a quality canvas that most home sewing machines cannot handle. Trying to do things yourself is a great way to save money but sometimes projects need to be thought out.
