I have built a 3 hull 8 man pontoon boat. It is 13' x 8'. It has three hull's and a wood framed platform 10' x 8'. There is a tiki hut framed canopy covering the platform with 3' high bamboo siding around the perimeter. There is wood framed benches running along the back and both sides. I have framed a 2" x 6" motor mount along the back of the hull's. I'm thinking of getting a 8 to 9.9 hp outboard motor for it. I have not the slightest clue how I'm going to steer this boat. There is a 3' low wall that runs along the back of the boat and the out board motor will mount about 2'-6" behind the captains seat. How can I connect a steering system or connect an extension to the throtle where I can steer the boat? Please help?
get yourself some PTO cables, secure em to the motor bracket, you can use a steering wheel but youll only be turning like 130 degrees total so a lever would do just as well.
some people preffer a strait mechanical linkage, like steering on a truck, but for a little pontoon that wasnt built to have remote steering, it would be more cost effective to use PTO cables.

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Off Road, the P1740 code came up after I pulled a trailer 300 miles. I continued to drive it to work and back thinking it wouldn't hurt the tranny. Well about a week ago it had trouble going into drive like it wasn't grabbing all the way then it would grab and jolt the truck forward. Then one time the truck wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. Shortly after this P0720 Output Speed Sensor code came up. I've replaced it about 8 months ago along with the speed sensor on the rear end. Last Thursday, I towed a Pontoon boat (isn't too heavy) to the river and I ended up losing REVERSE trying to launch my boat. It slips really bad but barely grabs enough to move the truck. I'm trying to sell my truck as I can't afford to maintain it being a 22 yr old with a shitty part time job. I've got 16 qts of tranny fluid and a transmission filter and gasket sitting in my garage.
What do I need to be looking at here?

you might try dropping the pan on it and see how much junk is in the bottom of it,from what you said about i think it got the transmission in it,did you tow it in drive in lock up mode,because that will get the transmission in them,i know a pontoon boat isn't that heavy but i got mine coming out of a ramp last year,and it wasn't a steep ramp either,it was just more than the transmission could take,imagine this, if by any chance you was on norris lake last year you might have seen a 2001 dodge ram sport(red )going backwards in to the lake with a pontoon boat tied to it,that was me,lol,truck went back about 4 foot in the water before i could stop it,drop the pan and see how bad it looks,you got nothing to loose but time,you may waste the fluid though because i think it may have got your transmission,good luck with it,i think you,ll need it.

Two Man Pontoon Boat
I want to build a small two man pontoon boat, and would like to use inexpensive locally available items for it's construction...I have seen pontoons of this type, but do not know where to get the end peices, or how to mount my frame structure on them...Any ideas, or wholesale/salvage places that can accommodate me would be appreciated.. First of all PVC pipe is not cheap, also did you mean hdpe type pipe. Do you want to make a paddle boat type 2 man pontoon or one with a motor? if you want to make a paddle type mounting is pretty easy because you can use different connectors start Small with a pro to type . I made one out off 2 ten foot pieces of PVC that was 6 inches water mains,on the ends I just used end caps they have them that are curved on the ends that made the pontoons for the seats I used 2 old plastic stacking chairs that I mounted on 2, 5 foot pieces of 4 in pipe in the middle I used 2 in pipe to make a square that was 4x4 that was drilled into the top of the 4 in. pipes the 4 in pipe was drilled into the 6 in. pipe to make cross pieces then I chalked the holes I have yet to take it out in deeper than about 4 feet of water but it will hold me and my brother both of as are almost 430 lbs. and it stayed a float sinking less than half of the pipes so I'm sure it will work the trick is to make it big to disperse your weight evenly.
