I have an intex seahawk 400 inflatable dinghy. this is a non powered boat and i want to know if i have to insure it for 3rd party cover if i use it on uk rivers?
Contemplate personal accident insurance - especially if a cruiser coming around a bend too fast doesn't see you !
Dinghy travels less than 10 knots, does not require registraton...and extremely unlikely you will damage another vessel...ie 3rd party is overkill.
Spend the $$ on a fluorescent orange top and a a good torch if you are planning to travel after dark - much better and safer if everyone can see you...

1. Your light truck weighs 3,500 kg. You drive up a gentle slope that is 0.5 km long. at the top of the slope you are 200 m higher in elevation than when you started. Assuming no friction, what force has your engine exerted to drive up this slope?
A. 7000N
B. 12,000N
C. 14,000N
D. 20,000N
2. In Physics the "desire of an object to keep doing what it is doing" is termed _______.

d. inertia
3. John loads a collapsed inflatable boat into a two wheel "grocery type" handcart and wheels it down to the lake. While the cart is being wheeled it is tipped at about a 45-degree angle (in other words, about halfway between horizontal and vertical). John finds this tiring because he has to pull fairly hard to move the cart. After hearing a friends suggestion, he tries an experiement. He uses an eight-foot long board to lengthen the underside of the cart. (the side of the cart that faces downward while the cart is tipped and being pulled along). The end of the board serves as a new extended handle for his cart. Now when he goes to pull his longer cart, he is pulling the cart at a 20-degree angle (much closer to the ground than before. What will happen?
A. The cart will be even harder to pull now because it is lower to the ground.
B. The cart will be even harder to pull now because of the extra weight of the board
C. The cart will be easier to pull, in spite of the weight of the board, because now the angle of pull is much closer to the angle of movement
D. There is no real change because it takes the same amount of work to pull a given amount of weight no matter how you pull it.
You Set up a pulley to help you lift something. You anchor the rope at one end and arrange a moveable pulley to achieve a mechanical advantage of 2. By the time you have lifted the object 5m off the ground, how much rope have you pulled through the pulley?
a. 2m
b. 5m
c. 7m
d. 10m
160J of work was needed in order to move an object 8m across a floor. What was the force (in N) that was needed to do the job?

d. 60N
When comparing the force that is required to climb a mountain by walking up a trail that slopes gently upward to the top versus getting there by scaling a sheer vertical ciff face, which of the following is a TRUE statement?
a. You use more force for a given distance of movement on the walk than the climb
b. Walking up the trail forces you to cover a greater distance, but the amount of force needed to cover a given distance will be less.
c. Scaling the vertical cliff, while dangerous, uses less force than going the gentler way around.
d. The distance covered is the same either way, but scaling the cliff is harder because you are working against gravity.

Too bad there's no calculation for home-work . Here are some sites that might help.

Why don’t they change especially with the increase patrols however rare they maybe even now it just seems you would think they would adapt. I know these may seem silly but it seems like there's easier ways to get onto a target then trying to fire RPGs or using small boats to try to stop huge container ships or tankers.
I know some of these are out there & not necessarily practicle or easy to get but why not make or use a submarine type craft or a large ships life raft which could be attached to the mother ship until a target is detected or better yet just left alone either could hold supplies for a short time. A submarine where you could spot your target with little to be viewed by a crew especially on a huge ship. Then you could just kick it in to gear under the cover or night & survive unleash your boarders & be on your way. Or they could use those inflatable safety boats most boats have & can hold a large amount of people & act as harmless survivors of an accident or something. When a victims comes within range the mother ship could rush off leaving the life boat or sub alone. The life raft housing “survivors” if the target slows or stops to investigate the crew just play it cool & if they convince the ship their friendly then get towed or allowed on either way access to the target is much easier & especially once on board just pull out a pistol or small rifle you've taken the ship. The mother ship follows at a distance or could return after a period to retrieve or re-supplied. Either could hold some supplies for several hours or even more so you wouldn’t even need the mother ship near by.
Just seems like there's a lot easier ways to gain access to a ship especially with them on heightened alert now. I know if I was a modern pirate I would at least look into them but maybe its just my criminal mind at work LOL. You don’t need heavy weapons if you can gain easy access & what’s easier then being allowed on board by the unsuspecting crew or when surfacing undetected at night. Once the ransom is paid throw it in a water proof bag & jump over board obviously at night to help hide your leaving & which direction you headed. Then the mother ship just tails from far behind & at picks up the boarders.
This criminal activity is all they know, and with all the ships hijacked -- sometimes it works out great for these pirates, why change things up now?
