Led Boat Cabin Lights

It wasn't submerged; it was in a cloth bag of mine that I had on a boat, and I forgot to put it in the cabin and my bag, consequently, was soaked. I managed to turn on my camera when I took it out of the bag, so I wasn't worried about it, but on the way home it wouldn't turn on again. I took the battery and memory card out as soon as I got home and put my camera in a bowl of rice. This was about 2 and a half hours ago, and I tried turning it on again, but what it does is the orange LED light that flashes when it turns on does indeed flash but it doesn't turn on.

Please help? I got this camera less than a year ago (last September) but I couldn't say where the warranty or packaging is.

You ned to leave it in the rice for a couple of days o suck the moisture out of it. Leave the battery out while you leave it.

Unfortunately, turning the camera on while damp has probably killed it but you might still get lucky.

As far as trying to find your warranty information goes, don't bother. Once the camera has been exposed to water, it won't be covered by any warranty. They can tell even if you dry it out. There are tell tales inside the body that change colour once water has got in there.

You only have time to grab your emergency rescue beacon before your yacht sinks. You throw it into the sea and hope the water triggers the light to shine and draw another boat to your rescue.

*** TASK*** To design and build a ‘rescue beacon’ in a secure container,

***EQUIPMENT ALLOWED***
• 1 PET bottle (1.5 litre or 1 litre)
• 3 A4 sheets tin foil
• 5 A3 sheets medium weight card (colour optional)
• 4 AA batteries
• 1 10 mm 3v LED (colour optional)
• 1 clothes peg (spring type)
• 1 strip of blue tac
• Up to 1 kg weight (can use sand, small stones, metal weights)
• 2 m string
• 5 empty film cases (with lids)
• 1 roll sellotape (12 mm x 10 mm)
• 2 A4 sheets white paper
• 2 Alka Seltzer tablets
• scissors (for construction only)

**** CONDITIONS ****
• Light should trigger after beacon is placed in water.

• Strength/durability of ‘rescue beacon’.
• Secure container.
• Light triggered after beacon is placed in water.

Well for 1 thing u dont want to place the 4 batteries in series..they would add up to 6 volts and blow ur 3v led.

if u put 2 in parallel, then another 2 in parallel, then the 2 sets in series u would have ur 3 volts.

BUt u have no time since boat is rapidly filling up.

SO...all 4 in parallel to make the juice last longer.

if you enclosed the light assmbly n batteries in a waterproof container..then mounted the Alka seltzer tabs near the opening of the PET bottle to make the pressure switch on the power for the LED..

screw on the top of the PET bottle but only 1/2 way tight so the sea water contacts the seltzer.
