I'm commuting across a harbour with a 3-meter aluminum boat every day, and I am considering to build a cozy, fully enclosed structure onto it to protect me from the elements and the engine noise. Trouble is, I've constructed this in CAD, and it looks pretty top-heavy. But I don't think it is, as it's going to be all aluminum and PVC windows. I'm only worried about stability when the wind comes from the side - is this too small a boat to put a cabin onto?
Thanks.
Consider making the enclosure out of canvas to keep down on weight. Aluminum tubing or even PVC pipe might be just fine and light enough - PVC windows? Like clear vinyl - should be ok - not sure how well they clean up in regards to scratches and all.

I have a 21 foot fishing boat, with a small cabin. I can't seem to get the boat to float off the trailer without getting my truck tires in the water. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You can do as above or get a trailer that has an extended neck to the hitch. This will allow you to place the boat back deeper without having to get your tires wet.hope that helps.~good luck catchin'.

Hey people.
Here's somthing that ive always wondered lol.
Now you have a boat with an open cabin space...Eg a small fishing boat.
Pretend you were travelling along a river at 5 knots and a fly was in the boat...if it wanted to fly to the front of the boat would it have to fly at 6 knot's to make it to the front of the boat.
In a closed cabin id imagine it wouldent have to work so hard. Unless it was to loose momentum.
Dumb question in know But I was out wakeboarding the other day and it crossed my mind haha
Wow - funny question.
Think of the fly as an aeroplane - if the aeroplane, flying outside and, say, above the boat, wanted to keep up with the boat it would have to fly at the same speed as the boat. This would be the same for Ferdinand (Ferdinand Fly, that is)
Now imagine you are inside the boat with all the windows closed. The air inside the boat would be still, so you wouldn't have to walk forward in order to stay put (after the initial launch). It would be the same for Ferdinand. If Ferdy wanted to be airbourne inside the boat, he would actually have to hover rather than use speed in order to stay put.
So, recapping - a boat with windows open (or no cabin) - the fly would have to be going the same speed as the boat in order to keep up with the boat.
A boat with windows closed - the fly wouldn't have to be travelling any speed at all in order to remain in the boat.
I hope that's cleared that one up for you!

Drama of Northeast fishing industry seen in movie | TheCabin.net
In this still from the motion picture “Whaling City” provided by writer director Jay Burke, actor Sean Malone, left, in the role of Fitzy, and actor Geno Monteiro, in the role of Tony Lopes, right, stand on the deck of a fishing vessel off the coast of Massachusetts. “Whaling City,” an independent movie shot in the fall of 2010 around New Bedford, is nearly done. To help make the film, Burke spent days at sea, and made cold calls to New England industry insiders. AP
BOSTON —
His knowledge of the fishing life once amounted to little more than what he learned emptying the lobster traps occasionally hauled up on his brother’s tiny Boston Whaler. That was before Jay Burke was inspired to try and capture the drama of one the country’s oldest industries on film.
