Boat With Cabin

I want to buy a boat, but there are a lot of brands. Which are the best sport boat brands, or bowriders. Also i was also thinking of getting a boat with a porta potti, maybe a 20ft cuddy cabin boat. Please help!

I have a 2008 four winns H210SS: and love it. the color scheme, matching helm, black windshield, through-hull exhaust and all-out speed. Makes it a good looking and fast running boat.

I am planning on buying a 22 ft. 1992 Sea Ray Cuddy cabin boat with 5.7L V8 Mercruiser. I want to use it to go to Catalina Island from OC area. The island is about 3 hours away. Do you think this boat is OK to go in the ocean with this much power?

Pick your weather and go for it. It seems like you are off on the time to go to Cat Is. as I remember the song,
26 miles across the sea......... 3 hrs at 9 knots would do it.
Your 22' Sea Ray is a planing hull and should shorten that time considerable.

I am going to buy a boat soon (most likely a cuddy cabin) and I was wondering where people sleep? Do you take the boat out of the water or just dock it somewhere? I just figured the water would make it difficult to sleep with it moving a lot. I am interested in a 22' or larger any suggestions on brands?

Once you get used to a gentle rocking there is no place like sleeping on the water.

Marinas are very nice, tie up to a dock or grab a ball for the night. Quiet coves are the best, no people, no noise, and skinny dipping is required.

Best brand out there is SeaRay, and they have a large owners group, second only to HOG.

It's 24 feet long. I'm not worried about gas, I just want to know the top speed.

more details are always better then less.

you have not specificed the brand of motor and drive.
or even what type of drive it is.

if we were talking mercruiser, it would probably be one of the bravo drives.
the bravo drives are bigger and tougher then the aplha, and have 3 basic models. high powered but not capable of going much over 35, dual prop, and high powered but fast.

prop also makes a big difference. 1 inch more or less pitch changes your top speed. and thats not even getting into amount of blades or aluminum vs stainless steel.....

and then there are always other variables.
hull condition/cleaniness, a scracthed and scarred hull will drag more. things growing on the hull also add drag.
prop condition, any little ding or dent makes the prop harder to turn. and more likely to completely fail.
motor condition, if its not running perfectly it wont deliver as much power.
weight, the more weight the slower it will go. by yourself with no gear youmight be able to X, add in 3 or 4 passengers and a bunch of gear and you wont go as fast.
water roughness, smoother the water is the faster you'll go. and if its REALLY rough, you wont even want to try going fast.....


as a very rough guess, 45 mph +/- 10 mph.

I've always wanted a boat with enough room for a Small group or family outing with the kids and some friends. Can't afford a yacht and wouldn't want one anyways but a small boat with enough room for just a few would be great.
