Aluminum Boat Cabin

Is it safe to put a solid cabin on a tiny fishing power-boat?
Fast Fishing Boat

I'm commuting across a harbour with a 3-meter aluminum boat every day, and I am considering to build a cozy, fully enclosed structure onto it to protect me from the elements and the engine noise. Trouble is, I've constructed this in CAD, and it looks pretty top-heavy. But I don't think it is, as it's going to be all aluminum and PVC windows. I'm only worried about stability when the wind comes from the side - is this too small a boat to put a cabin onto?
Thanks.

Consider making the enclosure out of canvas to keep down on weight. Aluminum tubing or even PVC pipe might be just fine and light enough - PVC windows? Like clear vinyl - should be ok - not sure how well they clean up in regards to scratches and all.

Where can I find specs on a '67 Marinette cabin cruiser?
Water Taxi

I recently inherited a 1967 Marinette cabin cruiser, aluminum hulled, 26ft long. I have to haul it back to WA from AZ, and the trailer it's currently on is garbage. So I need a new one, but I have no idea how much this boat weighs or any of the technical specs. I have had no luck finding anything online. Does anyone know where I can find technical specifications, or approximately how much this boat would weigh?

take a look at the iboat link

http://www.iboats.com/Marinette_Boats/bp /20br1282

they don't show a 1967, 26' model, the listing starts in 68 with the following

1968 Fisherman
This inboard sportsfisherman is 28 feet long and weighs 5125 (pounds dry). This weight does not account for passengers, fuel, or gear. The beam of this craft is 126 inches.

1968 Express
This inboard cruiser has a aluminum hull, is 28 feet long and 126 inches wide at the widest point. The boat weighs approximately 4875 pounds with an empty fuel tank and without any gear or passengers.

The 1968, Sport Express is a 28 foot inboard boat. The weight of the boat is 4695 lbs

it appears that the 28' hull was the only size built by Marinette for the next several years, i feel confident that what you are getting is a 28' hull that will match one of the above descriptions.

hope this helps

What would your perfect boat be?
NYPD Counter Terrorism Boat

Aluminum or fiberglass hull? Inboard or outboard? Gasoline or diesel? Center console, Dual console, or cabin? Single large inboard or outboard or two smaller ones? How big? What would make up your perfect boat? I think mine would have to be a 30-40ft aluminum pilothouse type boat with dual diesel inboards.
Money is no question but it has to be a boat... no aircraft carriers lol

fiberglass hull, outboard 250 (yamaha series 2) gas, dual console, single 250 of coarse 21 ft bass boat. unless it was unlimited money then i would get a huge boat with a cabin and diesel engines. since money is not an issue, i saw a huge ocean boat called the crown royal in gulf shores alabama, it was tight.

Purchasing a fresh water boat soon?
AMF 720 Hardtop cabin Enclosed

My price range 6000-15000. Cuddly cabin or a runabout with an inboard motor, length 19 to 23 ft. Fiberglass or aluminum. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

With your budget, I'd go 2 ft larger, which will give you a better selection and much large cabin area. I'd go for a 25' Fiberglass cruiser. Most will have V-8 Mercruiser or Volvo. You need that power to get on plane then throttle back to cruise. Be sure to take a test run on the boat before you purchase it. I know this time of year is the best time to buy, but don't get in to big a hurry. The market is overloaded with boats for sale do to high fuel cost and the economy. good Luck!
