Check out the forums on this web site. There is some real good information in here for anyone wanting to do their own repairs. It's a big site and you have to look for what you want but I bet you will either find it or find out where to find it.

When you open the site it looks like a fishing only site however it's not. There is everything in there pertaining to boats, motors and everything else you may want to know. I use this site a lot for good information about repairs. There are several real knowledgable boat mechanics that answer posted questions. Good luck

I have a 96 Wellcraft Excel 21S with a Mercruiser V6 and Mercruiser outdrive. I'm looking for a new(or used) prop to fit. I found one on Craigslist that came off a Bayliner. Part # is 48-78120-19. Will it fit my boat or do I need to keep looking?
The problem you're running across is that Bayliner only makes boats, not engines and outdrives. Depending on the year and age you could be looking at either a Mercruiser or a Volvo Penta engine. You need to find out what engine is installed and then see if it's the same as yours.
From personal experience, it won't be. Even if the brand is the same they change these engines and outdrives so often that the odds are slim that this will fit. I don't know about your Wellcraft, but with the Bayliners it's usually cheaper to throw away the engine and outdrive, reinforce the transom and install an outboard instead. At least with an outboard you can just swap one engine for another with confidence.
Good luck with your search..
Wellcraft 43 Portofino: Used Boat Review
People buy boats for lots of reasons: fishing, cruising, water sports. Dan Powers seems to enjoy taking them apart and putting them back together. Over the years, the 43-year-old, Austin, Texas, video and film director and editor has undertaken major restorations of all kinds of vessels, from an 18-foot sportboat to a houseboat. Blame it on his nautical upbringing.
“When I was 13 my stepfather bought a pair of 40-foot steel pontoons with the remnants of a houseboat structure on top,” Powers recalls. “Over the next year we demolished everything and started from those giant pontoons and worked our way up. It was a great project, and I really enjoyed the idea of building boats.”
