Pedal Boat

I bought a Pelican Rainbow DLX pedal boat. I was thinking of attaching a trolling motor to it. I was thinking of maybe 30 lb of thrust. Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with doing this and approximately how much faster it would go.

a 30lb trolling motor should push your pedal boat up to 3 to 4 mph. the pedal boat is a displacement hull with a short water line, top speed will be restricted. the top speed is also subject to water conditions, wind strength and direction, current etc. and the weight loaded on the boat.

So me and my friend are planning to have a fun nature day hang out. We're planning to go to the botanical garden first (in Brooklyn) and then roam around prospect park. I see that you can go on pedal boats and it sounds really fun!

We are both 16, and its just a hang out between both of us. Do we need an adult to get on a pedal boat? (hopes not)

Pedal boats don't generally have a minimum age requirement, but you may not be able to rent one if you're not 18. Most places don't rent to minors. Hope you have a good time and that you get to get out on the water. Enjoy.

I'm seriously thinking about getting one to take out & follow the shore on a small lake, but wonder what happens if you have a passenger (i.e. a kid) that either is too small to pedal or gets tired? (Of course proper like jackets etc. would always be used.)

Also what happens if one passenger is much heavier than the other? Or if you go out by yourself? Does it make it harder to pedal if the boat is lopsided?

it will work with just you pedling the pedals are connected and the stering thing is a lever in the middle that can be used on any side and i really wont make much of a difference if the weight is off but you can allways move positions

me and my family have bought a pedal boat.we have been riding and just got the idea of putting a screen around it.like for bugs..if u have any ideas please help.Thanks.

Another way is to go to a marine canvas maker. Have a Bimini top made with zip/snap on screens for all four sides. It will cost but will look right and be functional.
