how do i get my fishing boat back on the trailer
do i just drive it on full throtle or some other way?

Full throttle? Only if you want to take the boat home inside the back of your tow vehicle.

Driving a boat onto a trailer is perfectly acceptable regardless of what some have said here. Did it with our 25' cuddy cabin for years without a problem.

The key to success though is getting the boat onto the trailer level. Roller bed trailers do a better job of doing this as the rollers pivot side/side and front/back.

Driving it on usually is best done as a 2 person operation. Why? The 2nd person makes it easier to hook the winch cable and tighten her up and then hook the safety chain to the boat. Plus they then can hop into the tow vehicle and roll you and the trailer/boat off the ramp...slowly! If by yourself though it might be easier to use the cable and crank the boat onto the trailer.

Either drive on or via the winch is up to you and the conditions you are faced with. There's nothing that says one way is preferred over the other or that you can't use either method.

But if you drive her on stay away from anything that resembles full throttle and only use enough to move the boat forward!

I'm planning on buying a small fishing boat this weekend for fishing around the gower peninsula, and would like to know what are the basic bits of kit i need to get started? The boat itself is 15ft in length and comes with a 50hp outboard engine and trailer. Everything else i'm going to need to buy seperatly, except for the fishing tackle which i already own. flare
extra canister of petrol,, (you dont want to run out of petrol while at sea)
and a personal stereo, you will want to listen to some music when you out here
spare set of oars just incase of engine packs up
rope
and a handheld radio,

Ok this is kinda tricky.I live in Canada and they past this new law that you need a licence to have a boat.What is a way around this? What kind of boat can I get that does not require a Licence?

You need a license to own a boat? Or the boat has to be registered? Not exactly clear on the law or what your needs are here.

Most inflatables and non-powered canoes or rowboats are not required to be registered.

WOW, I read up on the law and it sounds like they've really got you coming and going. Looks like you go NO POWER at all or get the operators license. You can get it on-line below.

According to the FAQ page, you DO NOT have to have a vehicle DL to get the boat op's license.

Hi, I am looking for a small 12ft to 14ft fishing boat (prefer Aluminum) thats some what cheap almost like a row boat with a 5hp outboard on it. I have checked craigs list and a bunch of dealers but there all like $1200 plus even if i get the boat without a motor any suggestions of a good place to get one, or a good boat in general. (companies..)

Kind of funny you would ask this and not tell us what country, state or city you live in.

I would look outside of taxachooschits. It would be worth a few hours drive to buy something much cheaper.

I'm writing a story with 1800s ish level of technology. ie. Sails not motors. Wooden hulls, not fiberglass. etc

In my story, the protagonist is a fisherman (him and his crew uses nets) and he has just returned to shore with a huge catch.

How many fish would have been considered a 'Huge Catch" for your average 1800s fishing net boat. I've tried researching old fishing boats but I can't find any real information.

some of the commercial schooners fishing the grand banks could get as much as 100 to 150 tons over a month's fishing which would be salted for preservation, as refrigeration on the ships was unknown at the time.
