Drift Boat

Its my first one, going to drift down the salmon river in NY. Just curious if anyone had a list of essentials.

if you're going with a guide which would be best for a first trip, he will probably supply the bait and tackle.
just a good jacket, hat and thermos of coffee.

Looks kind of hard... how do you learn? how hard is it? Any tips?

It's not hard at all, you just need to practice at it a little and it helps to have someone show you the basics.I'm sure there is a video on the internet that will show exactly how it is done.

I just bought an older wood drift boat that needs some work done. Im trying to get an idea of color schemes that might look good on it and was thinking dark brown with either tan or white trim. anyone have any other ideas of what might look good on the water yet still be somewhat neutral colors (or more along a natural color scheme).

Is it a Drift Boat?

It sure looks like a Catspaw dinghy to me.

Based on a design by Nathaneal Herreshoff called the Columbia Dinghy, the Catspaw's lines were slightly reworked by Maine yacht designer Joel White to be an extra foot longer overall.

The version that Max has in the movie includes a bowsprit with a small headsail.
