I'm trying to find an Alaskan fishing tender (boat) that was owned by my deceased cousin in the mid-1990s. He worked out of Whittier. We are curious where the boat is today and if it is still being used. Is there any Alaskan sites that can help me? Or a state department? (I live in the lower 48).
Thanks!
It was sold after he dead and that owner lost it to the bank (or at least was forced to sell it)
Was it sold (legally) or did it just turn up missing or what?
This is the hottest luxuty RIB dinghy from GRAND! Very light - total package weight with 40HP Yamaha - 650lbs only. Performance - over 45mph.
I am looking for a tender or small boat that is made out of styrene on something similar, It needs to be stable like a zodiac, to take 4 adults with ease be about 2.7 mtrs long and able to fit a small motor, I need something that will not deflate if it is hit by something sharp like a prop or fins of a fish or the teeth of a croc.
hey man, i dont know from personal experience but i checked into getting one of these boats for just incase i coulnt tow mine. this boat is called the porta-boat. what i read about them and seen videos and talked with people, these boats are very durable, lightweight, and the actually fold down for easy hauling. i hope this helps you out a bit good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience

Solid state two color LED indicates stage of charger
My boat is in storage now. My mechanic suggested I purchase a battery tender to keep the battery charged during the winter months. Does any one else suggest I do this, and what kind to buy? I have dual batteries and the boat is 2 years old. Its a Four Winns H180
Keeping a battery at full charge is the only way to get full life span. Batteries allowed to discharge or kept at a lower charge state for any length of time become increasingly difficult to restore to full capacity.
Any maintenance charger chosen will have to be a quality one, if the charger does not reduce charge when the battery reaches full charge damage will occur quickly. Simple voltage detector chargers are problematic with many types of batteries, the unit should reduce current in line with rising voltage as the battery absorbs charge. A low, slow charge is far more useful than a hard high current belt. I have found 10 - 20 watt solar panels are perfect to keep a battery bank topped up - with a regulator for higher wattages if you are certain no possible drain exists. (A 10 watt panel into a large starting battery is safe unregulated - just needs diodes to prevent battery drain overnight which should be fitted standard. Remember there is only about four hours a day of full current from a solar panel set in one position.) Make sure the batteries are fully disconnected of any bilge pumps, fridges etc. - assuming boat is on the hard other wise the bilge pump must remain connected. I use C-Tek brand extensively on commercial boats, rescue vehicles and boats and privately. I don't trust the cheap asian stuff - one boat was extensively burnt out when a K-Mart special caught fire here a couple of years ago.
Good luck.

100% waterproof and ultraportable at a size not bigger than a computer mouse
Spark proof and reverse polarity protected; protected by a 3-year limited warranty
Automatically switches to float/maintenance voltage after fully charging the battery
bear in mind that its a pile of rubbish and i made a mistake with the purchase - its likely to get left to fill with rainwater and sink, i can't even be bothered to scuttle it !
So...I'm not after any nice "i'm proud of this" type name
I'm after a name that you would call something just before you kicked it ;-)
unfortunately, it doesn't leak so "rotten old sieve" will not do.

I have a plastic boat (bass tender) that has a two small holes. what is the best way to patch the holes with out spending lots of money
how small is small?
below the waterline?
if your holes are in a rigid part of the hull, you can repair 'em permanently with Marine-tex 2-part epoxy putty, this is really great stuff. http://www.marine-tex.com
If it's going to flex a lot, you might can plug 'em with 3m 5200 marine adhesive sealant.
