Where can I find a trailer for boat and PWC at same time? I've seen them on the road, PWC over boat.?

The ones you are seeing are custom built trailers, such as these: http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0oGkkX3oopGv3 kBpadXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTE3YjRicWFpBHNlYwNz cgRwb3MDMQRjb2xvA3cEdnRpZANERkQ1XzE1MgRs A1dTMQ--/SIG=123m8p10e/EXP=1183577207/** http%3a//shadowtrailers.com/custom_trail ers_4.htm

Bear trailersport still makes a double deck style trailer combo, but I'm not sure how much it costs.

How reliable are Polaris PWCs?

We're looking to buy a PWC on a budget. Found a '97 Polaris SLTX that comes with trailer, cover, has low hours, and is in fantastic shape. I know plenty about boats and boat maintenance, but just don't have any experience with PWC ownership. Internet searches tend to show Yamaha being very reliable, and I'm looking for one at the right price, but haven't found it yet. What about Polaris? I can't seem to find much about how reliable they are!
Additional info - we have a 24' Pontoon and a 20' Ski/Fish on a lake house, so the Jet ski would be for quick jaunts on the lake every now and again. We may take it back home every now and then and take it to a lake near our regular house to use occasionally, but for the most part it'll be for quick joyrides at the lake house.

The Polaris we're looking at is a 3 seater, so we can tow a tube/wakeboarder/skier etc. We don't do a ton of that stuff, but we have a 5 year old, so it would be nice to go out with me, the wife, and the kid, which is why we're looking for a 3 seater. It looks like parts are reasonably to come by, but not as easy as walking into to my dealer's parts counter, which is kind of a negative.

If I had my way, I'd get a Yamaha, but there aren't a lot of three seaters in my price range, and the ones that are seem to sell within minutes of posting!

They are better than Tigershark PWC's, but not very good either. The biggest issue with Polaris PWC's is lack of OEM parts available for them.

The Current ranking of reliability regarding PWC's in the last 4 years (2005 to 2009) is roughly:

#1. Yamaha
#2. Honda (I think)
#3. Seadoo
#4. Kawasaki

Polaris no longer produces PWC's and I believe they discontinued providing OEM parts for them, so everything you have to get aftermarket.

I recommend if you get a Polaris PWC, have the oil injection system disabled by a professional PWC mechanic and put only pre-mixed gas using proper mix ratio with the 2-cycle oil type required.

Make sure you can actually get parts and service for it before buying.

If you already own a ski boat and want a PWC to go with it, this might not be a bad choice.

However, if you are choosing between buying a good used ski boat and buying a good used PWC, go with the good used ski boat if you plan to do a lot of group activities and towing skiers/wakeboarders/etc.

PWC's are enjoyable to use and enjoy, but the novelty of them tends to wear off fairly soon. Not to mention you can only tow with 3 seaters in most states, and limited to bringing just three people along.

Being a highly experienced boater at the age of 28, I definitely prefer owning my 16ft I/O bowrider ski boat anyday over owning a PWC.

Update:

Polaris's I believe are known to have issues with oil injection not providing enough 2 cycle oil to all cylinders (One cylinder could run lean on oil and cause premature damage.) That's why I recommended the oil injection system be disabled.

Regarding selection and pricing of PWC's, you're either going to have to a closer watch for in-area offers or be willing to pay close to what is advertised for that brand, model and year you want.

Most PWC owners are no dummies regarding the resale value of them, as PWCs tend to change owners a lot more often than boats.

It all comes down to the dollars and cents. Gotta pay to play on the water, no getting around it.
