what size 4/ wheeler would i need to pull a trailer with a paddle boat?

If boat and trailer weigh less the 5000lbs then any V6 powered 4WD car or truck should be able to tow it. Now if your talking about an ATV 4WD and a small trailer anything 500cc or better would work.

Without a paddle Trailer

My 40hp outboard motors turns off when the throttle is pushed?

I have a big fishing vacation tomorrow. The motors will turn over and it starts for a couple seconds. When I put the motors in F and push the throttle down the engine shuts down. Same for reverse. Then after trying for a while the engine wont start at all...Just keeps trying. It seems to smoke also. Any ideas on what this could be and how can I test it before I lug my boat to the lake again and then have to paddle it back on the trailer.

If you have a push button shift, this is a very old motor. Both Johnson and Evinrude had 40 HP electric shifts in the 1960's. My guess is you have a 1968 Evinrude? This could be electrical, but I doubt it. What's changed is the E-10 fuel. You can't store it like a couple years ago. AND your fuel system, from tank to Carburetor can be (and is) affected. With so little time, I'd make the wise choice and leave your problems at home. Rent or borrow something to go fishing. On your return, Carefully examine what your going to spend your money on. There are complete rigs, with more modern engines out there for as little as $1000. Personally, I'd buy one. AND I know how to work on your 40, but I also know how costly that can be in parts alone. I try to remember fishing is a past time, not a job.

what should a dock-master's wages be?

I work on a lake for a summer job as a Dock-Master, and wonder what my wages should be since I do so much work. To start off the lake is about 5 miles long, but is along the seneca river in NY. It's not a huge marina it has about 75 slips, has a launch as well as a gas pump dock. So here it goes, I launch boats, rent row boats, motor boats, 1 small pontoon boat, paddle boats, and canoes. I sell worms, I pump propane, rent seasonal slips as well as transient slips. I pump gas, I take all questions, I'm basically a one man army. I train people that are new to boating, I give tips on how to put the boat on the trailer. I put in boats anddd help pull them out. I even bring jumper cables with me and have helped to jump a good amount of boats. I've avoided many possible mishaps like boats that would have put their boat in without a plug, never put the trim up, etc. Im very helpful, people have told me they come to my marina bc they know they will be helped out, and I do a really great job. Btw I just got a raise of $.50, I now make $8.50.
yeah you're telling me. I only work weekends, thats when its more busy..... I put in 12-14hrs usually each day.

Depends on how much work U do and Seem U have quite a lot of responsible for such low pay.As if something happens it's your butt.

what would cause my boat to take on water?

I have a 18 foot cuddy, with a mercruiser 470, and it run fine for about a alf hour, and then i idled it down, and put it in reverse and it died. we paddled it back to te dock and got it out of te water and onto the trailer and we removed the bottom plug and tere was a steady stream of water, like a garden hose for like a few mins. the was no coolent in the water at all, i am aware that these engines do leak coolent, but the cooling system is new. and im talking like gallons of water. and i cant see ware its coming from, is it being pumped in througt the engine?, or is it maybe coming in through from ware the lower drive mounts to the boat?, the transom right? so any ideas thanks, oh and there was no water in the boat befor we started, so please help

as have owned a boat it is normal for your boat to have some water in the haul this is do to small leaks (this is why you have a sub pump to suck water out wile driving)if it is a lot of water you need to pull the boat out and before removing the plug look for leaks baylinner's are know ed for easy to crack hauls.next time you buy a boat and do your self a favor and buy a out board as inboard/outboards are a pain to do anything with, out board motors are cheaper and easier to replace

BOATBUILDERS!!! Can you tell me some quick, easy, and cheap canoe/kayak/small boat designs I can try?

I'm in construction tech. And we have to build a project. And we have about 16 hours of building time.

My family already has a jon boat, but I want something small that I can use a double paddle or a electric thrust motor with a shallow draft. And I got to be able to carry it without a trailer (probably on top of my car). A trailer or internal combustion engine would make this project expensive.

I weigh about 250 pounds and will be using the boat for fishing. So add an extra 15 pounds of fishing gear. I know that seems like a lot of fishing gear, but I'm rounding up.

I came up with a cajun pirogue and I'll just hack off the tip of the back. Put a half inch triangle of plywood there, so if I wanted to, later on I can mount an electric motor on it later. The problem is that a pirogue would be mostly made with glue and fiberglass tape. That's just an inconvience when compared to nails or screws.

Anybody got any design suggestions. All I need is a name. Google can find me a design of it. Or an alternate plan to tackling a pirogue.

IF ANYTHING

Suggestions in the art of boatbuilding will be helpful.

There are several different types of kayak paddles available in the market. But, being able to find the one which fits both your needs and budget can be tough. For instance, you should buy the paddle only after deciding upon the kind of rafting you plan to do. Before deciding whether you are touring or using it for whitewater. A shorter than average paddle is preferred for shorter people while tall people should go in for longer than average paddles. Other important features in a kayak include blade and shaft length and shape, and the materials used to make the paddles.

    Shaft Shape And Length

The shaft is that part of the paddle on which you keep your hands. Shafts are of two types: straight and bent. While the former kind is light, easily available and thus inexpensive, the latter ones put less stress on your joints. Bent shafts help in proper stroke alignment and are more comfortable. They provide for a stronger and more effective stroke. A lot goes into designing shaft paddles. A sit-on top kayak needs a longer paddle. A long paddle is sturdier and gives more power to your strokes and helps you efficiently cut through water but it also creates more resistance. Whitewater kayakers go in for shorter paddles as they provide better movement, speed, and power. Also, the thickness of the needed paddle shaft is proportional with the hand size increase.
