Trailer brake light question?

i recently changed the location of my LED brake lights on my boat trailer. befor i moved them they worked perfect;y. now only half the LEDs light up. i have everything wired up the exact same. does anyone have any idea as to why this is???


If half work then they have power and a ground to them. You may need to take the lamp apart to see if something broke inside in the LED circuit board. Crack the run on the circuit board and dependent on how the LED's are connected, you can have some or none working.
If they are wired in series, one goes out and they all go out. Just like the old Christmas tree lights did.
Yours sounds like the LED's are wired in parallel circuits, they will work up to a break in the chain. Those after the break don't.
That's so you don't loose em all and have no lights at night.

Get some corrosion in there from moisture, and we know how that can happen, and bingo part of the lamp works part doesn't.

My computer on my 2006 touareg goes out when i tow my boat(LED Lights). Is there a fix for this beside changing trailer lights.


You need ballast resistors for the trailer lights, so the computer recognizes that there are actually lights there.
