Galvanized Boat Trailer

I hate the look of this trailer and would like to have it painted to look better. I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not. Can it be done?

While it is possible to paint or "Powder Coat" this trailer, you'll be reducing the overall effectiveness of the Zinc coating. It'll look nice for a while but unless done right, the paint will start to flake off after a few years. If it's "Powder Coated" it'll last longer, but you'll pay a fortune for it to be done. Epoxy paint could last quite a while though.

I have a 14 ft aluminum Lowe Jon Boat, Galvanized Trailer, 9 Hp Merc, Foot Controlled Trolling Motor and of course 1 Battery, 1 3 gallon gas tank. I am trying to figure out the weight of the entire rig, does anyone have any idea's?

It will weigh 465 pounds and 7 and 1\2 ounces. That includes the 12 ounce soda pop you took a few swigs out of and left it in the boat.

I'm not sure they will ever truly shine, not like a shiny piece of aluminum or a chrome wheel...cleaning them is easy as the other writer suggested, but be careful what you use and how you scrub, remember its a coating to protect the steel underneath (steel rusts).

my boat trailer is galvanized and in good condition. The axle and wheels have rust on them from sitting outside. how can i remove the rust so it looks nice and clean.

Looking for a galvanized triple axle boat trailer for a single hull 31 foot boat. We live in Connecticut. New or used doesn't matter not over $5,000.

For a 31' boat you want to "Cheap" out on the most important part of your boat? You're taking an awfully big chance on a used trailer which really needs to be fitted to the hull of the boat. Trailers are NOT universal to boat hulls. Each trailer is fitted for the proper spacing and angles of the hull. Having a bunker in the wrong place can cause minute fractures to the hull. These fractures lead to leaking hulls or worse, a hull imploding while under stress. A new properly fitted trailer will be in the range of $8k-$10k and be fitted to the hull and have a warranty. Plus with ALL triple axle trailers, they will have electric brakes install as standard due to the carry weight. Make sure that your truck has the right electrical controls for that setup. Try the company below. I have used their trailers for years and currently have one under my 26' Express Cruiser.
