Boat Transport Trailer

looking for an estimate of how much this would cost if i paid someone else, not really knowledgeable in this field so looking fo input, thank you.

I'd do it for about $1200. As long as it is roadworthy (tires, lights, etc) and doesn't need any special permits (overwidth, over height,) and weighs under 4,000#
My son lives in Denver and I'd like to see him and his family (my grandkids) soon. I have a 3/4 ton 4x4 Chevy pickup which I use to haul my Cape Dory 25 sloop around with. It weighs about 4,000#.

It currently has a 19' boat on it so therefore I can't transport it without the license even to where it would get licensed. Do I just tell somebody at the dmv I want a license for a single axle trailer? I live in Michigan if this would influence what I need to do.
It does not have any plate on it now
i'm trying to move the boat, not put it in the water so i dont need to license the boat only the trailer

Call your local DMV. They will tell you what you need or refer you to a web sight that will describe what to bring to recive a tag. Some states have a flat rate for specific sized and type trailers, while others tax based on weight. You will most likely have to produce a bill of sale of when and where you purchased it, and you will have to have a rep from the DMV or local police take a look at it and deam it road worthy/street leagle.

I am looking for a way to transport a canoe and put it in water in the easiest way possible (as the kids are too young to help lift). I was thinking that a (cheaper) regular boat trailer might be modified with some tires to work for a canoe so I can use a boat ramp. Anyone?

If the bunkers are close enough together to support the canoe it will work fine. Its a lot of hassle for a canoe though. You must maintain the trailer including the bearing and lights. You can get products that make hauling your canoe easier. A rack that allows you to roll it off the top of the car and a canoe cart to roll it to the water might make all the difference.
