Boat Trailer Winch Strap

Depends on the brand and style of boat. I have had boats that go each way. Last boat a ProCraft the bow strap went over the roller.
My current boat a Triton goes under the roller.
Best way to tell is if the bow hook is over the bow roller when the boat is properly loaded on the trailer the hook goes over the roller.
Same if the bow hook is under the roller.
When your boat is properly loaded your boat should be snug against the front roller. Hope that helps. Again depends a lot on the manufacture and or style of boat.

The hook that the winch hooks to on the front of my boat has pulled out. I don't even know what it is called to look for another one. Also, the hook on my trailers winch strap broke off. Do I have to replace the entire strap?
I didn't break it, it is an older boat and it rusted until it was week. The studs on the back of the bow where very thin. The strap is in the same shape. The sewing that held the hook in the strap came loose; the hook didn't break.

If the Bow Eye broke, all you have to do is go to the dealer to get another. Then, as far as the winch strap is concerned, you'll need to replace the entire strap/hook combo. But this sounds like you did something wrong. Breaking the Bow Eye and Tow Hook together tells me you'll need to take the boat in for an inspection of the bow portion of the hull. If you pulled the bow eye completely out, you have damaged the Super-Structure that forms the hull. Where the bow eye is located is the strongest part of the hull, and if it pulled out, you now have the possibility of unseen fractures.
