Boat Trailer Wheels

I have a 20 ft Allison race boat and just was wondering if anyone had any luck with buying trailer tires and aluminum wheels online, or did you find a better deal elsewhere (and if so, where?) I'm tight on money! They are size ST225/75R15

Is the boat heavy ? (3000 lbs ) car tires will not hold up. sidewalls are not strong enough. Make sure they are trailer tires

I have 10 inch Mini wheels on my boat trailer and am having trouble finding tyres at a reasonable cost. Will any other 4 stud wheels, maybe 13 inch, bolt on to my existing hubs?

Sometimes the fenders can be adjusted if you need more room for the taller wheels.

The 10" wheels were meant to give your rig a lower profile for whatever reason.

I think that it would be a good idea to go to the biggest wheel that will fit.

This would mean less chance of bearing failure and easier retrieval out of the water at rough ramps.

I agree with 45 Cal. Any 4 lug wheel should fit. Wal Mart has the best price on galvanized ones with the tire.

Those are common Bow and keel rollers you should be able to buy them from any boat or trailer parts dealer also try West Marine or Boats US Just type into you search engine there should be one located in Milwaukee

If I may suggest use a clear roller, like a stoltz roller it will not leave black marks on your boat

i want to remove the aluminum from the chrome so the wheels shine. what can i use to remove the aluminum?
we arent a 100% sure its aluminum but thats what it looks like and feels like.
no matter what it is what could i possibly use to remove it?

Sounds like a galvanized dipped steel wheel. They dip them to prevent rust and corrosion. If you remove that coating and don't properly seal the metal it will rust and corrode very quickly.

It hasn't seized on because it was removed only a few months ago, and hasn't been used since...kept in garage.
The nut goes on the spindle, and what looks like a washer on after that. The washer looks to be welded to the nut at two opposite ends. It seems this is locking it somehow.
I can email a photo to anyone who might be able to help.

Could it be a lock tab of some kind?Is it wheel nuts your describing?It sounds like your trying to remove the nut in the centre?Which will be the wheel bearing nut.Wheel nuts usually go onto wheel studs ,which are threaded.The nuts have one end cone shaped which locates and holds the wheel on.
