Boat Trailer Towing

Does anyone tow a boat & trailer at the same time? Can it be done. What is the size limit? What kind of Trailer do you have?

Yes it can be done.
Do not surpass your tow vehicles GTW ( gross tow weight ), or the GVW ( gross vehicle weight)
Make sure everything you are going to tow has brakes.
And check with the state/states you plan to travel in/threw to make sure it is legal.
See them all the time, but have never paid attention to the set up sense I have no need to do this.
Check with some hitch manufactures to see what is available for your vehicles.
If and/or when you do this, remember to pick you gas stations wisely, and remember you are going to be twice as long as normal for turns, etc.

A car is towing a boat on a trailer. The driver starts from rest and accelerates to a velocity of +11 m/s in a time of 28 s. The combined mass of the boat and trailer is 410 kg. The frictional force acting on the trailer can be ignored. What is the tension in the hitch that connects the trailer to the car.

The force we are looking for accelerates tralier with boat to 11m/s in 28 seconds. Using the second law of Newton we get F = ma, where a = 11/28 m/s^2 and m = 410, so F = 410*11/28 N

I know alot of pick-up trucks have extendable power mirrors on them, but i don't want a pick-up, i want an SUV.
I appreciate the answers, but i should have stated, what German or European SUV's have extendable power mirrors, nothing wrong with the Suburban or Excursion but i'm thinking about Rover or Audi or Mercedes, sorry for not clarifying.

The old Ford Excursion had towing mirrors

I believe the Chevy Suburban 3/4 ton has optional tow mirrors

If you want a different SUV, you could buy and install aftermarket mirrors yourself.

I own a 16 foot pleasure craft, and i want to take it across the border into canada to use while i'm on vacation. It is registered in Michigan (boat sticker) and meets all of the coast guard regulations (lights horns emergency flares)

are there any additional papers or things i may need to clear customs and operate on lake huron (close to shore)?

make sure that all the trailer lights safety chains and things are in order. in ontario the boat has to have an additional chain or tiedown device in front in addition to the winch rope. I have known people to be stopped and checked for this! have proof of ownership and proper documents for both trailer and boat. if you are just going on a trip its very easy, but to leave a boat in canada requires alot of paper work(for summer, month etc, and return to use it later). in canada the pfc's have to be blaze orange mandatory. check with local customs or go to the ontario ministry of natural resources for upto date regs. ps check boat for left over beer bottles or other illegal items that are not allowed into canada(cant drink at all in boat or have open containers that means old emptys too. live on borderlake in mn and ontario have boated in canada all my life.
