Boat Trailer Swing Tongue

Trailer is 17 ft with 15 ft tri hull on on it. When putting boat in often the back wheels of my ford ranger are in water. Couple times got stuck wheels spinning on slime covered ramps. Wanted to know if its worth extending the tongue of my trailer rather then go through expense of buying a cheap 4x4 truck.
It won't fit in my garage if I extend length of trailer so I have to install a swing tongue on it.

I'm concerned about the balance of weight on trailer if I add on to it.

It will work just fine.As for balancing the trailer this is not hard either.To accomplish this all you need to do is move the Axel on the trailer.You want about 100lb.of tongue weight so you will need to move your Axel forward.I hope this helps.

It wouldn't be guided by state law. It would be guided by the trailer manufacturer. There should be a plate on the trailer that gives you the info. If it is missing, you'll have to contact the manufacturer with the model number, etc.

I bought one of those mounts, but am having trouble finding a place to mount it on the trailer. It won't mount to the tongue because its a swing tongue, and has to be folded every time to fit in the garage, and I don't want to mount it towards the rear where it gets dunked in the water every time. I was just wondering what others do.

You might try the Bow-Stop (winch stand). Remember to mount it on the opposite side from the winch handle. Also make sure it clears the boat. look around at other boats at the launch ramp, for boats and trailers like yours. there is a more expensive mount that swings on a arm, attached to a bracket, that you can attach to your tow vehicle. Maybe you need to put an add in the local paper, or on EBay, or Craig's List.
Maybe place it along side a busy road with a 'For Sale' sign on it.
