Boat Trailer Seattle

At the end of a love story movie the main character guy is coming back for his woman and to impress her he drives a big truck and on the back of the trailer is his big boat he built, i think, and he's in a huge city like new york which is impressive to be able to fit that big boat in that city. So i would like to know which movie this scene is in.. Is it sleepless in seattle>maybe??

I'm thinking of towing a boat and trailer that was 1100 pounds, with a 1991 ford tauras. I'll be towing it 800 miles (down I5 from Seattle to San Francisco. There will be four passages in the car weighing around 720 pounds and around 250 pounds of luggage in the trunk. Will a ford Taurus with a 3.0 L Vulcan motor be able to handle this load?

No, you already have exceeded the max towing capacity by the amount of luggage to be loaded and the boat&trailer.

Find another way to tow the boat to the location you need to, or risk paying lots of money to get your transmission rebuilt or replaced.

What's involved in building a boat that would be legal in Washington or Oregon? Are there legal limits in how far offshore you can go? Who is in charge? For instance, I own a small boat in Wyoming. It is legally licensed and equipped. Can I trailer it to Seattle or Portland and put it in the water and go exploring the bays just like I do lakes here in Wyoming? Are my licenses for it honored in other states? Who would I contact to avoid breaking laws I haven't heard of? If I build a small boat that is licensed in Wyoming, is that good in other states?

Yes, and it is of course, the USCG. The USCG is in charge.

Many sailors have sailed the world in home built boats. I for one, build my own boats.
All you need to do, is follow the rules, which are mostly & mainly for your safety, and other then that, you can build a boat, get hull id number(s), get it inspected and approved, get it registered, and walla... it is just like store bought. Once you do that, all the other State and Safe boating rules apply.

I've never boughten a boat or jet ski before & i'm not sure what to look for if its a good deal or not. For instance, there is one thats $2k, its a 97' Sea Doo Bombardier SP jet ski (what does that mean), appearantly it doesn't have an hour gage so he doesn't know how many hours are on it, I asked to have a mechanic look at it and he said he didn't have the time to do that because he needs to sell it fast & has lots of offers on it (well I ain't dumb with the whole "lots" of people interested, i've pulled that one before). I guess I just need to know what to expect, is this a good deal (also comes with a trailer), anything wrong with this model? Slooow dowwwn. I t sounds like you don't have much experience with jet skis. Step one is to figure out what you like. Go hit the beach, check some skis out, maybe rent a couple. PWC are very unique, and each one is different. Some are small and nimble, some are large and stable. Everyone rides differently, too. Some people like to ride solo, some two-up.

To answer your specific questions: 2k for a 97 sp with trailer isn't a smoking deal, and it isn't that great a ski. Being a newbie, don't even think of buyiong one without taking it to a mechanic, 10 years isn't too old, and 2 inch balls and four pin flats are pretty standard. Good Luck!

The car salesman told us our Explorer, since its an '05 model, has a towing capacity of 6500 lbs. We are looking at buying this Sea Ray, and the seller says it weighs 4200 lbs. dry, and maybe 5200 with the trailer.

My math tells me that that means it should be fine...but I'm inexperienced at this. Some of my more experienced friends say that that is going to be really hard and very taxing on the vehicle.....and some say that's no problem, people do that all the time.

What do you all say? For the most part, we just want to tow it around to local docks (we live in the Seattle area), though a trip to a lake would be fun too if the Explorer really can handle a boat this size. Thanks for your perspectives!

I pulled my 27' foot bayliner Aft cabin cruiser on a double axle trailer with a weight of 7,500 pounds.
Now for the scary part.....My truck is a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 with 5 speed V-6 even worse I only have a ball on the bumper no reese hitch. What does that tell you about what a truck can do.
It's all in the driver......................
