The wheel studs are corroded as are the lug nuts. We were able to remove the lug nuts with great difficulty in order to remove the tires to get them fixed. Now the lug nuts will not go on anymore. I heard about this thing called a "thread chaser" or a "tap and die". But how is anybody really supposed to fix something like this? It's been in sea water before.
Don't bother for $20 dollars buy the complete hub bearings and studs with nuts> Replace it all> It comes as an assembly> The other studs are in the way to try and turn the die>And getting the studs out you will need a acetylene torch and slug hammer>To much work> Replace them>

buying a hauler is expensive but i need one so i can haul cars and repair them. i was thinking of buying a boat trailer and turning it into a hauler, is it legal in the state of washington to do that?

It is legal but unwise. First it isnt wide enough. Second the axle will fail and cause severe damage and possibly death. If you want to construct a car hauler then thats ok but a boat trailer just isnt up to the task. Unless you are prepared to replace the axles(yes two) with some heavy duty ones. Try northern tool & equipment and also reinforce the trailer frame then you are destined to fail. While you are there they also have plans you can buy for like $10 to construct a car hauler or any other type of trailer you wish to build. Its worth it if you are inexperienced with building things.

I don't know whether the bumper repair would be covered under Comprehensive or Collision. Would the boat trailer sliding forward on its own be considered vehicle hitting another vehicle (collision) or act of nature (comprehensive). The truck was parked & locked when this happend. The boat trailer was also unhitched, parked, and wheel chocked however high wind pushed the trailer forward knocking it off the chock stop.
I would handle this as a collision loss.
The wind did not cause damage to your vehicle. Another vehicle caused the damage. Your deductible will apply.

There is no market for an old boat like this. There is a market for the trailer, and possibly the motor, but it's getting more difficult to dispose of old hulls. Some dumps will no longer take them, and those that do large a large fee.

take the wheel off and take it to a shop ,if you don't have the right tools to take the seal and the race out let the people that know how to do it do it,then ask them about "bearing buddy" it fits where the dust cover goes and has a zerk fitting so you can put grease in without taking the wheel off,saves a lot of time and money, all you have to do is put grease in a couple times a season, lasts for years and keeps the water out
