Why do both my boat trailer lights blink when I turn on the running lights?
Follow!

Boat trailer lights both blinking when I turn on the running lights on my Nissan truck. I have ok signal from the light converter box. I have replaced both tailight units. Strange things is when I plug into our van all the trailer lights then work?
How do I check all the grounds? I am ready to go have it fixed...
Any advice, or help will greatly be appreciated....thanks

It's not the ground, it's the hot wires that are not in sync. The plug on your car wired wrong.

Boat trailer lights during the day in Wisconsin?
High And Dry

When pulling a boat trailer during the day in Wisconsin, do you need to have working lights on the trailer?

Any trailer being towed needs to have working lights, the only time I have ever gotten away with out them is when the trailer is small enough to allow an unobstructed view of the vehicle towing. this however still leaves you open to suit should someone decide to avail themselves of an opportunity for a little car repair at your expense.
This is not a Wisconsin only issue, it is all states, they all require functioning trailer lights, day or night.

Boat trailer running lights not working?
Sunset portland 2

I have an issue with my boat trailer lights. The brake lights and turn signal lights work but none of the running lights. The bulbs appear to be good so I don't think that's the issue. I did find one white wire that isn't connected to anything on the back of one of the rear lights but can't figure out where it may go. Also, when I took the lense off of the light where the loose white wire is, water poured out.... Any suggestions?

White must be the ground. water will short anything out to ground.

Brown is tail , yellow is left, and green is right. and white or black is ground. Are you getting power to the running lights to the connector? Past the connector? Do you have a Good ground?

Your going to have to trace it back with a test light or probe.

My boat trailer lights worked before I pulled my boat out. After that the lights are dead. What do I do?

Before pulling the boat out , one side of the trailer lights were hanging down and broken. The other side was working good. Went to store for a new bulb and the lights still do not work. Need to fix this cause I have a oil leak on the outdrive.
thanks.

First, you need to check your "Pig Tail" on your truck, use a Test Light. Brown is Tail Lights and Green and Yellow are Left/Right Blinkers and Brake Lights. If, this work then look at the trailer. I like to do this with a battery or you can use a battery charger. Two jumper wires (I have two wires with Alligator Clips). First connect Ground (Negative) to the trailer be sure in have a clean connection. Next connect to your Brown and ALL lights should work, this includes any side lights. Use your test light and remove covers to see if it light when connected to the metal on the bottom of the bulb, check it clean (I just scrape the metal with a small knife until it shine). Then check the Yellow and Green. I not remember, I think yellow is left blinker and green is right. The Blinkers are also your Brake lights. Clean metal to get them working. Remember the Trailer has to be connected to the ball to get ground. There is a white wire to do this, but, most not connected as it ground on the ball. If, the inside of the hitch or ball are rusted spray with some WD-40 hitch it up and drive around and see if everything start working.

boat trailer lights won't work?
Home time.

I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 and the trailer lights on my boat trailer will not work when connected. What is strange is they worked for a while then nothing. I changed the bulbs, but still does not work (turn signals or brake lights).

What is wierd is that I have an alarm on my truck and when I turn it on or off the lights on the trailer flash just like my truck lights so I know there is power getting to the lights...

Any suggestions on fixing this? thanks

V Man almost had it right. You probably do have a bad ground but should NEVER rely on the ball to provide the ground connection. The wiring harness has four wires. One is for the running lights, one for left turn and brake, one for right turn and brake and the fourth is for the ground. It should be connected to the frame both on the trailer and the tow vehicle harness. The ball is too intermittent an electrical connection and without the hard wired ground, will give you nothing but intermittent headaches.
