Where in Milwaukee can I find boat trailer guide wheels?
boat ramp B

I am looking for these: http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/ details.cgi?r=view&i=20607

But from a local Milwaukee store.
I am looking for a specific store, nothing general. Please do not reply with, "Any boating store" I want a specific name of a store and an address.

Those are common Bow and keel rollers you should be able to buy them from any boat or trailer parts dealer also try West Marine or Boats US Just type into you search engine there should be one located in Milwaukee

If I may suggest use a clear roller, like a stoltz roller it will not leave black marks on your boat

Have you ever jack-knifed a truck and small (empty/unloaded) trailer? This is an inexpensive way to reduce the probability of that happening.

I am a new pontoon boat owner. Do I need the guide ons on the trailer? They are doing damage to my pontoons.?

As someone new to boating/boat owning, you need all the help you can get when it comes to properly launching and recovering a boat. Especially when it comes to pontoon boats.

That means if you have guide rails on your boat trailer, keep em. They make recovering boats easier. As long as the guide rails are smooth and are kept in good condition, they will not damage your pontoon boat. Unless of course you ram them hard with your boat, then anything can be damaging if you hit it fast or hard enough.

Why you might ask pontoons are more problematic for recovering? Well, unlike boats with conventional hull designs, the pontoon boat has to correctly slide onto BOTH support sections, not just one main one.

So if you get one pontoon on right but the other misses or seats wrong, you gotta back up and try again.

Leave your trailer as is. If you truely seek to know more about your pontoon boat and trailer, you need to have a trusted highly experienced boater take a look at it.

Meanwhile, while they are there, ask this person specific questions about ANYTHING that is uncertain or unknown regarding the boat.

The only silly, stupid, or dumb question about boating/boats is the questions that is not asked.

Help! I'm a U.S. citizien, but own some land in BC Canada & want to take 14' boat,trailer,20hp motor- can I?
lizard in my garden

Boat is a Tracker Guide V-14 (14' 3") Trailer for it 17' & 2007 20 hp Honda 4 stk outboard motor. To be used in river & maybe Burke Channel. Crazy me- I live 3K miles from Bella Coola BC, but looked & found boat/motor/trailer in Idaho--on my way to BC & cuts off 2K miles of towing, leaving 1K miles. Crazy & hard to insure with me living in Louisiana & buying in Idaho & taken to Canada. Don't want to show up at border only to be told to trun-around boy.

Yes, you can take a US registered boat to Canada, however you will have to pay fees for both the boat and for each fisherman in your party, but you might run into an insurance problem, so talk to your local guy and he can advise you on a rider for Canada. Good news is that the fees are not that bad, and the fishing is fantastic. Good Luck!

Edit: If your just going fishing, there is a very simple process at the border to get the temporary permits for the boat and fishing licenses. There's no import paper work required. The last time I did this was before 911 but the fee was $30 Canadian and $15 for each person fishing. I needed the Car insurance for Canada which my State Farm agent provided before the trip. And each of us had Passports, but at that time a Drivers license was all that was required. I'd bet you can get a temp. registration for the boat...... Good Luck!

Boat Trailer question?
union elec build2

I just bought an 88 sea nymph the trailer is a shore lander with the adjustable winch "stand" it is a slide type trailer with a small oval "pad" that guides the keel the guy I got it from had it set so the boat rode on that pad while trailering and this caused 4 rivets to be worn completely down to nothing causing a leak. I replaced the rivets and the boat is now water tight question is was the original intent for the bow to ride ONLY on the bow roller where the winch ties in and keep the less robust keel portion off that pad while trailering???

So I like to set my snubber so it is just above the bow eye, but the cutwater comes in snug. The cable or the strap comes under the snubber, usually through a hole and attaches to the bow eye.

So it sounds like you need to move your winch stand closer and lift your snubber just a bit.

Where to order Trailer Kits Online?
lasalle's

I am looking for a boat trailer kit online. I am not looking for a manual or guide on how to build one. I am looking for a kit to hold a 12-16 foot Jon boat. By kit I mean you order it and it comes to your door step with every part, bolt and nut needed to make it. does anyone know where I can find something like this? If necessary I could order bunks or something like that to mount separate but a complete trailer package is ideal! Thanks for your suggestions/help!

Boat trailers are manufactured by several companies located all over the country. They ship by many means but it's very expensive to ship Common carrier to an individual. Often more than the cost of the trailer. Most company's ship "not assembled trailers" to distributors, by the truck load. They then can assemble various models which can be picked up or delivered to dealers as needed. What I'm trying to say is it's cheaper to buy from a local (at least nearby) boat dealer. They can get it unassembled, but the cost of assembly on the size you want is usually $50 or less. Years ago I bought trailers like this. You had tongue, axle, and frame, then a box of parts that had the springs, wheels etc. So, I've assembled quite a few small trailers, but since the 80's it's been far cheaper to have them assembled. They stack 3 to five, one atop the other and pull them to the marina. Total cost is way cheaper than having my shop assemble a bunch of parts. Not to mention the liability if it's done wrong. I hope this helps. I'm including a useful web site.....

Components of most trailer hitches are removable. The ball part of the hitch, the half that is used to lock the cargo to the truck normally rests in the trailer hitch receiver opening. When the ball is removed, the receiver opening is left hollow. This opening protrudes from the tail of the truck and has sharp edges. People could bump into the metallic rod or lower themselves on its sharp corners.

It is a good suggestion to make use of a trailer hitch cowl to guard the trailer hitch receiver opening. Trailer hitch covers can cover the opening and maintain any particles from clogging it. Trailer hitch covers additionally defend people from cutting themselves or bumping into the onerous edges.
