Jon Boat Seat

I have a 16ft xtra wide jon boat with a 15hp tiller control motor,as you know with a tiller handle you have to sit to one side of the boat do they make a seat base that would allow you to mount a seat that could be slid from one side of the boat to the other?

I don't know if one is made that will go from one side to another but there is one made that will slide 15'' from side to side. it anchors securely to the leading edge of the jon boat bench. The companion part then fastens to the bottom of the boat seat and into the mounting bar. Plate: 9"L x 6-7/8"W. i just got this 10 foot jon boat for like $35 i also got a mushroom anchor a seat and 3 oars all of this for $35

it is a 1973 polarcraft....all riveted..i would like to take the center seat out...is there any way to do this???

Drilling out the head of the rivet with a large drill bit and removing the seat is how you get the seat out. This leaves you with a completely different problem. Thre will be a place where the rivets come through the bottom of the boat. Chances are, its bonded very good and if it isnt leaking the glue will still keep water out for the time being.

You may however lose a rivet while you're out on the water leaving you with a hole and a leak below the waterline.

My advice is NOT to grind the rivets flat when you drill the heads out and dont pound them out of the boat. Make sure there is a solid block of hard wood directly under the rivet you're working on and pein the stub over with a ball pein hammer. This will make a new rivet and keep the glue and integrity of the hull in tact and not leave you with a leak.

Or is there a formula I can use to find out?
It will be in small lakes on calm water. And is there any other suggestions for a swivel seat? maybe a 4 inch rise?

I have a 12 foot jon boat and that might be pushing it.

I bought a jon boat from a duck hunter who removed 2 of the 4 bench seats to make space. I only fish from the boat and need to find replacements since I usually have a couple people fish with me.

I'm look for a VERY small jon boat. Just one seat and some leg room. Do they make them this small and if so where can I get one. Thanks.

GO TO SUN DOLPHIN dot com they make plastic boats that are filled with foam very stable I have one and love it!! As a matter of fact I bought mine thru TSC Tactor supply during the spring months they usually have them for $699 to $1299... I run mine with a johnson 6hp and it will plane out and run aprox 25mph I just purchased a johnson 9.9 hp and waiting for spring to try it since the boat is rated for 10hp. It also does great with a 50 lb thrust trolling motor I can go anywhere on that electric motor....

I hope this helps I love my boat!!
It's great when I want to go out by myself.
