Boat Seating

My boat vinyl seating has been stained from the red canvas top. I now have pink blotches on my vinyl seats where the covers stretch over the tops of the vinyl. I don't want to hurt the vinyl but would like to remove the stains.

I just cleaned my boat about a week ago.

Get the magic erasers extra strength, it's like your just wiping it up.

i want a cuddy cabin boat- but most of the boats we've looked at dont have a ton of seating, and we often have a lot of guests..

does anyone know of any brands of boats that might work?
hoping to seat at least 10 people, but i dont want a boat bigger than 26'... if possible

10 is a significant number for a 26' boat...know that's not what you wanted to hear but sadly it's a fact. You're talking about a single engine and with the extra weight she isn't going to operate as well as you might like.

Look upwards to a 29'. The extra length and wider beam, possibly coupled with twin engines, will give you more comfort and a smoother ride. The cabin also will be larger and offer more amenities. Now, don't go thinking it'll cost you that much more for there are really great deals being made right now on both new and used boats of all sizes.

Brand names? I'm partial to Chaparral but there's also Cobalt, Sea Ray, Rinker, Bayliner (yuk), Cris Craft, Maxum and tons more to choose from.

Good luck and please...if this is your 1st boat make certain you take either the Coast Guard Auxillary or Power Squadron class!

i know tht to be the cocksman you need to be smaller and have good leadership ready to yell and motivate the team, but does the bow have a special meaning, or the middle spots?? any answer would help

Each seat has a significant roll in the speed of the boat, but everyone contributes something different, much like how it helps to be tall for basketball, but you wouldn't start 5 guys that were 7'0 tall

8- stroke, much like a point guard, sets the pace of the rowing for the rest of the boat, generally a smaller, athletic, and technically sound rower

7- sort of like a shooting guard- the 7 seat needs to respond well to what the stroke is doing as the front seat on his side of the boat. (if 8 seat is port, 7 is the first starboard and visa versa)

3- all engine room, power of the boat where technique has the least effect on the run and pace of the boat, so it is not as important as in the other four seats. Big bodies that create most of the power generated by the boat.

1- bow pair has the most influence over the direction of the boat, being the two rowers closest to the bow of the boat. poor timing or sloppy technique here can throw off the direction of the boat, forcing the coxwain to compensate with steering, and slowing down the boat

every position is very different and you can win or lose with the same 8 guys depending on where you put them.

What kind of seats are in the front of a older model ski boat? They look like bench seats, but I've been unable to find someone who sells them, for what I understand pontoon boats are the only ones with bench seats. But I am restoring an older model ski boat and re-doing the seats and interior. I've bought the back to back seats but I'm unable to locate the seats in the front.

They are generally bucket seats in the older "low profile" boats, built into a wooden box frame that is secured to the hull. The seat cushions are removable for storage in the base.

I have one back to back lounge seat in my boat, I can't figure out how to lay it down flat. I can get it to move forward and back a few inches but thats about it. If you can explain in detail I would appreciate it.
Boat is a sea-swirl, didn't notice any levers.

There are two types of back to back seats. The most common is the style with a "Twist" knob. Turn the knob counter-clockwise to loosen the lockdown, and the seats will fall flat. The other style has a lever. This lever is usually under the "Forward" seat. Pull the lever forward and that should release the lock to lay the seat flat. I have the twist style on my Bow Rider seats.

Look under the seats for the "Twist" knob.
