www.amazon.com Product name: EEz-In Low Profile Seat Slide and Locking Swivel Description: EEZ-IN LOW PROFILE SEAT SLIDE comes with swivel.
The one that the rower straps his feet on to keep him stable??? What is the technical term for that?
And also what is the technical term for the little seat that slides back and forth?
here is a site with a diagram of the parts inside a rowing shell
Each rower sits on a "sliding seat" that rolls on wheels along a fixed track called the slide. Feet are tied into shoes which are bolted onto footplates in the boat.
"Footplate or Stretcher" - fixture in boat that contains shoes screwed into a piece of wood. This contraption holds the rower's feet into the boat and is the only part of the boat where the rower is firmly attached.
The shoes have quick release velcro straps, but should not be over tightened as you may need to release your feet in the event of a capsize.
The position of the feet is adjustable to accommodate different height rowers. This is achieved by loosening the three wing nuts securing the stretcher to the tracks and then lifting and sliding the footplate to the required position. If you are rowing in the same boat regularly, it is a good idea to remember the position of the shoes so that you can adjust the boat before you get in.

i am a novice. i have been stroke seat of the top boat since recently and everyone in my boat has a tough time following me. sometimes i can feel that everyone is off from me, so that makes me feel like my rhythm is really weird or something, so then i start rushing the slide. it's just really hard to keep my OWN rhythm when i can feel that i am doing something completely different than everyone else and no one is following.
so obviously the coach is always reminding everyone to follow me. but how do i know if my rhythm is weird or something? could it be because i have a slow recovery? and do you have any tips as stroke seat..should i just do whatever i want even if i feel that everyone is off?
i am talking about rowing in an 8
as a novice, you will most likely feel weird for a while in the stroke seat. most novices are horrible at following their stroke, and will have a tendency with rushing the slide, which is what i think you are experiencing. Just do your best to hold your own pace and as the boat gels and begins to work better together, they will improve in their ability to follow you. However, you still need to make sure you are improving, as everyone develops bad habits from time to time, so i suggest you evaluate your stroke and make sure you are doing all parts of the stroke correctly. I would ask your coach to try watching you and see if he as any advice. If you are pretty certain you are doing your job right though, just do your thing and give it time, the boat will eventually improve.

i am so irritated with my team. i am a novice. the girl that is stroke seat starts yelling at everyone in the boat and telling them what to do. i sit behind her and she tells me to slow down my slide or to adjust my handle height.. and she was screaming the whole time about the boat being unset. she doesn't realize that her fat a** might be the one that's making the boat unset. and she yells at people to row harder. and she doesn't know how to do everything. she really isn't that great of a rower. she is one of those who thinks she is perfect but she sucks. i guess being stroke seat got to her head.
i want to punch her in the face. help. how do i deal with girls like this on the team. i'm so sick of these spoiled rich bitches. i usually don't say anything.
This is actually a big no-no. Talk to your coaches and your coxswains. Rowers should not be talking in the boat, especially telling other rowers what to do. That's the cox's job, and having someone else shouting commands can be a huge distraction and actually create dangerous situations. Plus it's really freaking annoying. Actually, I'd be very surprised if your coaches don't already know what's going on- and believe me, they'll take it into account and hopefully intervene. IN the mean time, if she continues to drive you insane, talk to her. Be calm and mature about it, and explain that it's really distracting to have her throwing commands around on top of the coxswain's calls, and that if she has an issue with the boat she can take it up with the coaches. That ought to put her in her place. The fact of the matter is, no novice knows everything about rowing. Honestly, you can even look at the national team and point out flaws in their technique. This girl is totally out of line, and something's gotta give. make it happen!
I need help answering this question for my math concepts course...I'm just lost on how to get an equation or figure out a minimum number. Here it is:
Ten people are sitting in a canoe single file. There are five people in back, and five people in front, each in his or her own seat, and there is an empty seat right in the middle. The five people in the back want to move to the front, and the five people in the front want to move to the back. They cannot just go straight to their seats, the boat would tip over. A person can move in precisely two ways: move into the empty seat right in front or behind him/her (a slide), or step over the person right in front/behind him/her to an empty space (a jump). only one person can move at a time.
1- determine the minumum number of moves required for the 5 in the back to move to the front and the five in the front to move to the back. explain how you arrived
2-write an expression for the number of slides the ten people would make in order to solve the problem
3-write an expression for the number of jumps the ten people would make in order to solve the problem
4- write an expression for the number of moves in a game with 2n people, where n is at least 1.
i dont know how to do any of this so any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
look up the tower of hanoi problem, this is a variant of it.
