Installation of boat pedestal seats?

I'm putting decks on my boat and i was wondering how i can put pedestal seats in my boat (what tools do i need) thanks.


My friend, I have found something you might want to take a look at that could give you a very good design for modifying your aluminum boats floor plan.

As far as mounting pedestal bases make sure you have adequate support to mount your bases to. An extra thickness of deck material (marine plywood or whatever you are using) beneath you floor, large over sized fender washers and stainless mounting hardware will last much longer than galvanized bolt and nuts. As mentioned a jigsaw or 1" hole saw (or whatever size your base requires), and an electric drill can be used for below deck pedestal bases or a drill and bits for a surface mount base. If you haven't bought your bases yet, you might want to get ones with brass or bronze insert bushing. They last forever and don't crack like the plastic ones. Good luck with your project and I hope it comes out as well as you want it to.

How can i remove the front seat on my bass boat the pedestal is jammed since i bought it.?



All seat bases are screwed to the deck. I think by this point you have twisted your butt off, soaked your boat in P-B blaster and wrote in. Now you will need to find the out line of the base in the floor. Use a razor knife to slit the carpet from the center of the post to a corner to create a flap. This will expose the screw heads. Hopefully they will come out. If not I hope you have access under the floor to grab the nuts. If not you will need to drill out the center of the screws to remove the base. Once you have it out, get a new one.

You might also look to see if there is a catch holding it in.

How do you put decking on the bow of a jonboat?

I would like to put some decking on the bow of the boat and put a pedestal seat on it. Also i would like to have compartments underneath the decking for storage. I'm not sure how to go about doing it so if you have any ideas i would love to hear them. Thanks.


Is this is an aluminum boat?

Get some stiff cardboard and make templates of the side between the front bench, and bow. Cut pressure treated 2x6's to follow the arc of the bottom. Screw PT 2x4 uprights to the ends, and cut flush at the height you desire. Use the seat to rest the rear portion on, add blocking as needed, then cover the top with PT or marine (or even exterior) plywood.

You will have really just made a "box" with no bottom, or sides that conforms to the inner shape of the boat. You can add access doors as desired, and it can be removed as needed. You also won't have to cut, or drill into the boat!
