Thanks Joey! after looking into what you said I found that It was most likely built in the 50's. It is all fiberglass and I believe it had a 10 hp engine with a 5 gallon fuel tank under the front hood.
I took it out for a couple of hours and it is a blast, But it's back in the garage for a bigger engine and a slick paint job. I just wish I could stretch it a little. It definatley was'nt made with a 6'3 guy in mind!...........Anyways, Thanks again for the help.

tctc,

That baby is old. Your boat appears to be a flat bottomed hydroplane, and they were FAST, even with small engines!
The power that's on the boat is telling me it was more for the kids, and not serious racing. (Lucky kids!) Your boat would probably have been considered a "Class A" racer, if it would have been raced.

That Johnson outboard is old too. You can find out what year it is by going to this site and have the engines serial number ready. Then match your serial number and you'll have your model year. It will help if you know the engines HP.

I never heard of National Marine Const., but hydroplanes of that era and earlier were routinely built in peoples garages and were relatively simple to build from plywood but yours looks like fiberglass?

Here is a drawing of one called a "Cab-Over Hydro"

If you're interested in seeing the plans, here's the site:

This boat and the plans were printed in a 1965 edition of "Popular Mechanics". Sweeeeeeeet!

If you're interested in seeing other old hydroplanes, and maybe someone at this site knows your boat builder, then here is a great website to start:

Australian question.?

Why wouldn't they let me keep Colin?

I asked Mr Rudds office, but they listened in silence and just hung up on me.
I told them I would look after him and feed him and take him for walk...erm....swimmies every day.

Where we live, he could get around by simply leaping from one backyard pool to the next and that way, he could travel for miles.
I even designed a beaut water bed for him to sleep in. Well, its a beeeeeeeeeed actually.

It goes all the way down the street and around the corner.

Washing him would be no problem either. I would just borrow Greg Normans boat trailor (have you seen his boat?) and take him down to the whale wash.

Also, when he grew up, he would be invaluable in a security role.

By strapping on a Riccaro bucket seat and wearing a scuba outfit, (me,not him) we could roam the Aust. coastline looking for baddies to apprehend.

Talk about a low maintenance Collin class submarine. With him submerged and me with my spear gun, Coke bottles and packet of armour penetrating Mentos, we could rule the waves.
Can you imagine the look on the baddies faces when they see this crazy guy at sea bombing along on a bucket seat in flippers and attack Mentos while peeing 20 metres into the air?

Aargh......the dastardly loss to mankind, fellow Aussies.

Serious question re: car upholstery & if we should pay this guy...?

We hired a guy to reupholster our '89 Chevy Blazer about a month ago due to mold in it. The price started at $1600 for fabric. However, things kept getting tacked on (vinyl, two-toned for both front seats & back bucket seat, door panels, carpeting, back side panels). We came to the agreement of $1950.00 and put down $900 for work that should've been done in under 2 weeks. Thus far, the guy broke the passenger window (brought a new one my fiance had to replace) - leaving broken glass inside the car which resulted in having small bits of glass shard in my hands; said the machine broke & that's why it was taking so long, the phone battery died (first time) & didn't have the phone on him (2nd time) to return calls, had a friend who had problems w/the law, needed to do stuff around the house & got caught up doing another job which is why he couldn't finish the car on time. When he brought the car back, it was w/o the back seat & w/o carpet in the cargo area (saying it wasn't part of the deal). Meanwhile, the car reeks to the high heavens of glue fumes. My fiance thinks that when he brings out the other seat, we should pay him another $650 for it (fair market price for the seats & half the carpet) & terminate the rest of the work (carpet, etc.). Others think we shouldn't pay another dime. We don't want to rock the boat or have to deal with anymore hassles with a baby due any day now, family coming in from all over the country (and out of country) and me trying to finish classes @ the U.

What would you honestly do in this given situation?
Oh, and during the last conversation he kept saying "I'm gonna' need to get paid when I bring the other seat out - cause you know, I gotta' take care of bills too." I finally told him we'd pay him just to get him to bring the seat out tonight at 7 - which probably won't happen as stated as the last time he got "caught up" working on one of our seats & didn't bring it out until 12:30 in the middle of the night!

you should have a serious chat with the tech and do not pay him any more money until it is to you e satisfaction.

CLARIFICATION:
CLARIFICATION: I have heard many many people on here say we need to get 100% off of oil.
We will Always need oil.

Lets drill our own
So.. we're going to destroy plant life instead??

Somehow I don't think ALGORE will allow that

Uh, well, nice list, it must have taken you a long time to cut and paste that. However, they said oil for energy. Not all oil. So, yeah, that must be disappointing for you. Nice list though.
