Bass Boat Seat

the boat has 2 bucket seats but would rather have a middle seat for a 3rd person. want the middle seat to fold and have a textured surface to step on and maybe even cup holders in it. was thinking of just buying a middle seat but know i would never be able to match the factory seats.

I build my own boats... and you may or may not know, there is a "marine grade" vinyl and fabric.
I do NOT upholster my own seats, benches, or furniture. While I can build a boat from scratch that looks "store bought"... I have found that there are just somethings better off left to the pros.

In my case, upholstery is one of them. So, my advice would be to have your seats done by a pro, and make sure a "marine grade" fabric is used. Believe me - it makes a difference, especially if you plan to keep your boat more then a year or two.

There is an upholstery shop that does nothing but boats not far from my home port Marina... they do it all, everything from seats to canvass, and they only use Marine grade stuff. They are very good, and they are expensive (meaning they are not the cheapest in town). But, I have found that while they are "almost" as much as buying a whole new "cheap" Captain's chair (for example)... They are a little less, but they certainly put out a better, longer lasting product.

I travel a lot it my boat, so I know there are these kind of places in your area... I (personally) would find one with a good reputation, and have them do my seats.

There is a little black button at the bottom of the chair pole but when I push it in I still can't get it out.

it's probably rusted in. you're just going to have to manhandle it. might try spraying it with a penetrant first, like pb blaster or something.

All seat bases are screwed to the deck. I think by this point you have twisted your butt off, soaked your boat in P-B blaster and wrote in. Now you will need to find the out line of the base in the floor. Use a razor knife to slit the carpet from the center of the post to a corner to create a flap. This will expose the screw heads. Hopefully they will come out. If not I hope you have access under the floor to grab the nuts. If not you will need to drill out the center of the screws to remove the base. Once you have it out, get a new one.

You might also look to see if there is a catch holding it in.

i just bought a glastron bass boat and the original bench seat is gone. what is the best way to relplace this with out getting a new bench seat. btw the original floor is the only thing i could attach the seats to.
yes, it is down to the original floor and the floor is in good shape

most marine reupholster can build you a bench seat that will be close to original if you try to do some thing yourself it wont look too good and probably fall apart after one season, let the pros do the job!!!
