Omc Boat Motor

The boat is a 1983 glaspar waitsboro, the V6 block is cracked and I can't find another block. So I got a buddy at work that has a 78' 305 that needs to be rebuilt, so there for I can rebuild with marine part's on the inside instead of automotive part's. The real question is will the 305 bolt up to the existing out drive??!! If the 305 want bolt up to the OMC out drive what kind of mercruiser will fit it, the boat is 17' 5" and not really that heavy. I just don't know what out drive will go to which motor and which size out drive for the size boat. If any body know's how to fix this problem I need advice THANK'S Justin

The engine will bolt up but the gear ratio will be too far off to repair with just a prop change. And have you taken into the consideration the cost of rebuilding the engine and buying the proper exhaust manifolds which are a couple hundred bucks a piece. You would be farther ahead to buy a remanufactured marine engine, just swap it out and be done with it

omc 302 ford 1rst startup 10 years sistting, water flooded motor....she sat with 5qts water in the pan! ran great! no knocks!

hello we have had a couple people worked on boat but they can't to seem to get it right, and not many mechanics down this way, anyways what we have is a 120 OMC inboard motor on our 19 foot walk through windshield boat, when we got the boat we had to get someone to put freeze-plugs in it, and they also done something with the tilt-trim motor that lets the foot down. we paid them 750.00 well when we got it we put it in the water and it kept shutting off, it ran a little and keep shutting off, so we called the man he said to check the oil we checked the oil and it was milky, so we had to put a new head gasket on it, which he was suppose to do and he didn't so we put it on it a new one and we put a new exhaust gasket on it,now we tried to crank it and it want fire, and also the foot want go down...so we have 2 problems the plugs aunt firing, and the foot want go down so we dont know nothing to do for it could you give us a estimate on what it will take to get it in the water and running, thanks Mitch

Mitch seems U have a lot of issues best get a good Quality Mechanics and get the engine running or it will seize up from having water in the oil. If it ran before and no spark check the coil and see if a wire was left off. Purple on the + and gray on the -. With a volt meter there should be 9 to 12 volts depending on the ignition U have.
