Also how many MPG do party boats get? The ones that could carry 50 fisherman. I know that the wind and travel speed play a factor, so let's say normal wind and traveling speed.

5-7 MPG, moderately loaded (4-600lb) at 2,000 rpm. My best guess. Tell me if I'm off.

take off the cover and look underneath the engine. you will see a protruding bolt, different to any others as there will only be one and its coming from the sump. loosen it slightly to see if its the right one. Its should be oily. Drain if off and put marine engine oil of the right grade into the filler cap on top of engine. check dipstick if you have one do not overfill.

I have a Stanley Boat (it's a Mink 16 CC) and I was running a Yamaha 70 hp four stroke. To make a long story short I need to buy a new boat motor.
I was thinking of getting a Mercury 75 hp four stroke on my boat, so will get a hard time from the cops or anyone else for that matter ?

the USCG max HP rating is a *RECOMMENDATION* only, not a federal law or regulation.

However, some jurisdictions have enacted boating regs that require compliance with the rating plate. (my state does not)

Your insurance company probably will not mind, but you should for sure notify them. Otherwise they can (probably will) use it to deny a claim.

Finally, the pro bass tour and most local tourneys require compliance with the rating plate, it's an automatic disqualification.

If the boat will handle 70hp, 75 will be fine. Don't expect a big jump in performance though. One maybe two MPH at most.

Some warranty and "recall" service is extended at the manufacturers discretion, but few things in boating are free. You will need to work through a local certified Suzuki dealership. I've had manufacturers refer owners to the dealership I worked at, when they where not satisfied with service elsewhere, but they had to pay for at least some of the work done. Good luck!

I am looking a buying a boat with a 2002 90hp merucry motor on it. The sellers say they have used the boat for 5 years salmon fishing and most of the time the motor was used was when trolling. The owners say they have used the boat about 20 times a year for 5 years fishing. THat translatest to about 400 hours give or take. Is that alot for a four stroke mecury boat motor? and would you buy a mercury boat motor of another brand?

It has probably seen one major service if the previous owners have been taking proper care of it properly. Most mercury engines have 100 hr and 300 hr milestones for their service requirements, the 300 hr services being the more involved. So in the grand scheme of things 400 hrs. is not a whole lot as long as the engine was properly maintained throughout.
