Sorry I don't have the break down on serial #'s with me(truck driver).Your model # indicates a '51-'52 twin cyl of 5 hp.It uses 1/2 pint per gallon of non detergent 30 wght (original spec's)of course today you would use same amount of TCW type 2 cycle oil.It will run fine on modern J11C plug gapped at .035 and points set at .020.These plugs are a little longer than originals so care must be taken that spark doesn't jump to sparkplug cover if used on this model.

Might search for antique boat & motor sites.
I know there are clubs that love the oldies as well.

ive got an old sears / elgin 7.5 boat motor that won't start. i put it away 2 years ago and its been sitting since. the day i put it away it started up like it was new.

i tried to start it today with no luck. i pulled the cord about 40 times and nothing, so im wondering what i could do to give it a jump.

remember it ran good when i put it away 2 years ago. its got great compression too.

one thing im not sure of though is whether or not it can be started in reverse. the lever that switches from reverse to neutral to forward is stuck and im not sure why. any help? thanks.

First of all DON'T EVER USE STARTING FLUID ON A 2 CYCLE ENGINE AS REFERRED BY ANOTHER MEMBER!!
First check for spark, then check your carb since it sat for 2 years it will prob need drained, then start off with fresh fuel and try to start motor in water. If motor won't start then you will need to have the carb rebuilt. You can try replacing your plugs this may help you also.
The deal with it stuck in reverse usually can be corrected by turning the prop and trying to shift the handle at the same time this should free it up to go in to neutral.

It's all about the Honda Motor (model year) The boat is worth a couple hundred. The motor however could be worth as much as $2500 o more in running condition. If you have a trailer that's another $200 But, the complete rig wouldn't bring much more than the $2500.
