Boat Motor Manual

I am trying to find out the year of my boat motor so it can be sold the manual was destroyed

We need to know, if you know, details. Even the make of the boat might help. So, is it an outboard, inboard or I/O how big, HP, No.of cylinders, colors, fuel injected, year of boat (on title) size of boat. Is it Mercruiser, or Evinrude etc. Each company puts labels and ID plates on their motors in different places.

Now, as to the manual.......the owners manuals tend to be less informative than you would think, unlike car manuals they tend to be brief. Service manuals are more useful, but expensive. So, tell us what you know, even post photos if you know how.

I have a Chrysler Force 125 Outboard motor (1986). Am looking for a copy of the owner's manual. Willing to pay a reasonable price.

Without trying not to sound to pessimistic looking for a bible for this old girl would be like trying to find hens teeth. But you could always look around for a dealer who use to work on Chrysler's to see what's left over on the bench. Good luck on the hunting grounds.
p.s. Maybe take the shop manual that bigi bal has any paper work is better than none at this time and date.

Bought the boat in 2005, but didn't get an owner's manual for the motor.Needs some work on it.......runs sporadically.Would like to rebuild it.

probably just needs a carb rebuild.

I need a website where I can download for free a manual for a 1980 through 1982 mercury 70 hp boat motor. Does anyone know of a site? Thanks!

Anything that involves the words manual, repairs, and boat is going to cost you money. There is no worming your way out of it.

#1. There is not sufficient enough demand for people trying to pirate off service manuals and publish them free via peer to peer, or the internet. Even if people did, it would be quite easy for the publishers to find the very few distributing piraters posting it online and sue the crap out of them.

#2. You require accurate instructions, diagrams, and expert troubleshooting for a specific outboard year and model, that expertise costs money.

#3. I SERIOUSLY doubt you are going to want to print 300 or more double sided pages and have to bind it, not to mention use up almost half or more of your ink cartridge. It's not gonna do you much good reading it from your computer while the outboard is out there, even if you have a laptop, that's taking an expensive risk of incidental damage.

Oh, and printing it at a print shop is illegal and they are required by law to report anyone attempting to illegally print copyrighted material at their workplace, that involves books, building blueprints, and especially copyrighted manuals.


In short, its just far cheaper and easier for you to legally buy the service manual and have it easily available for reference. Not to mention, its the ONLY way.
