I have a 60 hp Johnson motor and was wandering if anyone can give me any info based on the serial and model numbers. Such as year made and type of lower unit oil.

Model # G 7794742
I got these numbers from both the powerhead and the outside of the motor case.
I thought everybody new about "introduces". Take that word, each letter represents a number, i=1, n=2 etc. now take your ser#, throw away the last letter, the next two are the model year. That would make this beast a 1988, right? Of course, i could be wrong, i've only worked on Mercs since about '88.

Gear oil is standard OMC, or 90weight, I'm not sure, but i believe that motor has VRO oiling, so unless it has failed and been disconnected, the oil is seperate from the fuel. If it has been disconnected, use 50:1.

Boat I have a old boat that I need to identify. It has a GM motor and an OMC Stern drive. The only numbers I can find on the boat are on the rear below the right back edge. They are Galey747m76c. Can you tell me if this is the maker and year identification

It was built in December of 1976.

Design & Construction Standards:
• Any mono-hull design is acceptable and the hull may be constructed of any rigid material.

Maximum draft of the hull itself is not to exceed 4”
• Boat Motor & Propeller specifications are:
Motor – 9-12 VDC, 12500 RPM, High Torque, Kelvin #850887
• Vessels must be painted or marked for identification - and the quality of workmanship and finish is a factor in judging! The judges expect the model to look like a ship.
• Failure to adhere to these requirements will result in the loss of a significant number of points.
• Each team should provide a floor stand for its ship model, high enough to permit working on its entry during the challenge (the table space available in previous years cannot be guaranteed).

The guy bought it when he was a kid a long while back with no title, and he sold it to me for 30 bucks to get rid of it. I just want to goto some small "no wake" lakes and use a trolling motor. Everything I look up seems to say I need a title to license it, but SURELY there is a way around this? I found the "Hull Identification Number" once, and I think I might have read something on the boat saying manufactured around 1960, but I maybe mistaken. ANY HELP?
check with your DNR before you take it out and get fined!
I'm from Ohio we dont title boats under 14' but then again I dont know your laws.
Being that old you may have to take it to the DNR to have it checked to make sure it is a safe vessel (inspected) then they will decide weather or not to give you the okay!
