5hp Boat Motor

I have a 2006 Mercury 5hp boat motor and on top of the engine there are two little tubes and gasoline squirts out when i press on the gasoline pump I already went to Academy to check and compare a new engine with the one i have and there is nothing connected to those tubes as well why is gasoline squirting out of those tubes or what is going on with my engine please help

If you're lucky you just didn't make a good connection but definitely have it checked out where you bought it or a reputable mechanic experienced with Mercury engines.. If you use it you are risking a fire. Not a good option when you're in a boat.

Heres a video of my 5 Horse power Honda Outboard Motor, its a great motor and very reliable.

i just picked up an old sears boat motor,3.5hp going by sticker.i would like to find out the year and get some tech specs on it. i found some numbers on it but nothing seems to match up with what i find on the internet.any help please?!?!

If your motor is an old green or dark red&white Elgin made by West Bend for Sears, from 1946 to the early 1960's, the following links will give you the info you want.

Older outboards used many different ratios -
16 to 1
20 to 1
24 to 1
And some - for example - my old Sea King used regular 30wt motor oil with a mix ratio of 24 to one.
But I reccomend using todays 2-stroke oils BUT at the mix that hiawatha reccomends.

I think you are talking about jersey here I just took my test on saturday any baot that is being operated under power needs to be registared and the operator must be over 16 with a valid boat certificate.
