25 Boat Motor

Tried just about everything, it will turn over but it won't start. I have good spark, I've put new primer bulb and fuel line on. Could be fuel pump but how do I check that?
We're on our way to the gas station - I'll let you know.

First I would try running it with new fuel. Although you may think the fuel is still good, if it has been sitting around for a while it might not be good! After you have tried that, post the same question back up letting us know you have tried fresh fuel.

This motor has approx. 250 hrs. on it.A man that owns a local boat shop asked me if I have ever had the valves adjusted,and i said that i hadn't,and he said it should have been done at 20 hrs. He told me that it would only take him about an hour at a cost of 135.00.I am just wondering if it would be possiable to do this my self?

Maybe with a factory service manual depending on your mechanical abilities. Without it, no.

The gap is .018 -.020 but more importantly the two sets of points need to open exactly at 180 deg. from each other. There is a mark on the crankshaft cam that you line up with the points arm. OMC made a "timing bar". that made his much easier. You would connect a ohm meter to the points and adjust until the circuit would brake. Maybe an old shop would still have this tool, and do this part of the job for a minimum charge. After setting the points, you double check the timing. Good Luck!

Bad gas. If it tries to start it has spark.

Bad gas for a 2 stroke engine can be gas containing alcohol. Get offroad gas.
