How can I get salt water out of the oil in my boat engine?

The oil drain hose that comes out of the rear of the boat got severed by the prop because I forgot to install the drain plug. I believe salt water was sucked up through the hose and into the engine oil. Now there is milky white oil all throughout the engine. HELP!!

drain it out NOW !!! saltwater will cause rust very fast. I take it that this a 4 stroke ? add new oil, let boat idle on flusher for 15 minutes, change oil again,,

Is there a drain plug to change oil in a mercruiser 120 boat engine, or does it have to be pumped out?

I'm just looking for the easiest way to change the oil in my boat engine.

If thats a 4 cyl Chev you can drain the pan but your bilge will be a mess. The dipstick tube should be threaded, you can hook a pump line to it. I have a small pan with hose attached that goes under the oil pan (the hose runs out the drain plug). It drains any crap out that lays in the pan & its faster then pumping.

Is there a way to find out how many RPMs a boat engine should be putting out?

My husband has been rebuilding his own boat engine and he is wondering how many RPMs it should be running at. The engine runs good but it seems to be fast.
the engine is a 351 windsor motor and he has had it bored to 30 over. we are currently using a 19" prop.

If you know who the original manufacturer of the engine that the boat came with you can go to the dealer for that product and get specs.
What they will give you is the range the boat should run in example would be a smallblock GM motor is suppose to run 4200 to 4600 RPMS wide open throttle fully trimmed
If you over prop you will eventually damage motor. If you under prop it engine damage will occur from lugging engine.
So you have to get as close to top as range with out going over because by the time you add gear and people you will bring the rpm down but still stay in acceptable range.
I saw you edited your question with engine type and size the ford 351 is the same 4200 to 4600 rpms wide open throttle fully trimmed

Is water supposed to leak out of my boat engine?

I have a 94' manta ray. It has a mercury engine, Today i was testing my boat on my driveway with my hose and a lot of water was leaking from the engine is this normal or do i need to get it fixed/inspected?
it is an inboard/outboard. (i think) The engine is in the boat and the motor is under the boat

Details please, leaking from the engine is not specific nor is "Mecury engine"

Is it an outboard or I/O?

If outboard:

Is the water comming out of the engine cover or below it?

Are you getting a steady water stream from the "pee hole" that pours a small stream of water just below the engine cover?

Is any significant water comming out of the prop hub?

Please update your question with "specific details"

    Does anyone have any advise?

I have spent the last few weeks worth of afternoons cleaning, re-wiring, and re-rigging an 18 foot nautico seagull I bought. It is a 2001 hull and 2001 Suzuki 4 stroke. Finally had good weather to take it out today.

I have never been in a boat with any caviation issues, but I think this one has it. I don’t know if you call it prop slip or cavitation or what, but I noticed when I was taxing away from the ramp a slow wake speed I thought would be about 2k rpms I was actually turning 4k rpms. It worried me pretty much, I was thinking man this thing is going to be a slug. When I got in deep water I eased up and sure enough the boat turned up to about 5800 rpms and hit probably 25-30 knots. (Found out the gps does not pickup signal so I dont know exactly how fast.) You could hear the rpms would surge a little every now and then especially when accelerating. It wasn’t really that slow of holeshot, but it seemed like that mid rpm range 4k~ was just the pits. Below that or above it worked ok.
