Motor Boat Engine

i am planning to buy a maruti gypsy kings , and i wish to change its mpfi engine for better mileage as milage is somewhere around 10 , my friend told me to go for a toyota mortor boat engine , and if i do this modificatin will i have the 4 wheel drive .(the modified engine would be a diesel engine) .

Hey insomniac, you need to get some sleep, your suggestion is both ridiculous and ill founded.If you are serious boat motors have a totally different application and operating environment and would be totally unsuitable in a terra application. The power band and usable torque would not be applicable to the weight and launch requirements of an auto. The answer to your question is yes, however impractical that maybe, sleep on it.

i was taking it out of water today on the trailer and i forgot the engine was on so i turned it off like a minute after. did something happen to it?

If nothing happened you probably got it in time. They are water cooled and should never run out of water. It would more than likely seized up on you if you have screwed it up.

My dad insists on draining gas from weedeater, leaf blower, and boat motor and running the engine dry after EACH use. Gets on my nerves... lol. Is this actually useful? I understand you should drain and run dry at end of season, but after every use?

No its a bad thing to even run the weedeater completely dry because there is a gasket in the carb that will wear out just by the use but running it out of gas each time makes it go out faster. I work at a small engine shop and i see it all the time. Put stabelizer or a thing call sea foam in the gas you should be able to find either one at the local parts store and Wal-Mart.

I want to buy a used boat with a Suzuki motor. I have been told their gearboxes give problem. Is this true?

If you are talking about the lower unit the answer is heck no.
You can tell this because there are very few rebuilt units available on the open market.
There has to be bad units so they can be rebuilt and offered on the open market.
If you are talking about the shift control box again I haven't heard of any problems for the newer ones.
Built with in the last five years. I don't know about earlier models.

It has developed a ticking noise when running.

2 strokes have reed valves.....they are not adjustable. The ticking could be a number of things ranging from something under the flywheel to a wrist pin on the piston. Have the engine checked out by a Certified tech.
