Boat Engine Sound

Interesting that you want to increase the HP in the engine, and make no mention about the outdrive or prop. The engine is only a portion of increasing speed of a power boat. Then you have to have an out drive to withstand that increase, and a new prop to push more water. Don't know what kind of boat, but you can also OVER Power the hull. I've seen it done. Believe me, you won't live through it if it happens. I was first boat on the scene on a lake back in 1998. I could not save the two young men even in an ER and doctors. Boats are engineered to withstand water pressure to a certain speed and pounding. You exceed that, it gives way.

As far as sound goes, check with a boat center for a Corsica exhaust system to see if that can be installed aftermarket.

Also remember this, the engine will become less reliable with modifications added. Just ask anybody who has modded out a boat. I see them all the time trying to figure out why the boat won't start at the dock. All my boats fire up on the first crank because I maintain them, and don't mod out anything.

A model tug boat with steam & diesel FX sound module.

I dont mean the audio but i recorded some stuff on my camera with a mic. and it came up with the boat engine sounds and it isn't under audio. How do i remove it?

If you wish to remove the audio portion of your Video track (at least this is what I think you are asking about), just click on the + button beside the word Video in the time-line mode of WMM.

A drop-down menu appears below the Video track allowing you to make adjustments to the audio portion. Just right-click on Audio and you have several options to choose from in there, including Mute.

Now, even though you can't remove specific parts of the audio (what you don't want), you can reduce the volume or mute the video clip altogether. WMM does not have a lot of features like mixers and such as other $$ programs do, but you can mute or tone-down the audio to a certain degree.

Once you've muted or reduced the volume of your video track, you can focus on getting the desired effect from your independent Audio/Music track. Most WMM users reduce the volume of the video track rather than mute it entirely in order to voice over it and still retain some of the original background sound.

I saw this truck drive by my work teh other day that sounded like a boat, i love that deep deeeeep sound and i want my 97 chevy 1500 silverado 305 5L to have the same thing. MY friend told me that id have to get like some thing to do with my cam shaft. I looked on youtube about egines with upgraded cams and they sound exactly how i want my engine to sound. HOw much does it cost to get this kind of upgrade and how much to install. i have a '97 305 long block vortec fuel injected engine thats brand new. I only have $900. how much more do i need. and what do i need, thanksssss

your not gonna get the throat e ness of a 502 or 454 which are common in boats out of that pos 305. dont waste your money

I'm going to buy a boat soon and have thought about mooring in in Puget sound to avoid the boat launch. I know you have to flush the engine after salt water use. But how do you deal with the damaging effects if you never take it out of the water?

An engine does not rust if well maintained from the outside; much more dangerous is what is happening inside your engine and to other metal parts of different sorts on your boat..
Boats do not sink because of engines that rust from the outside; but electrolysis is the real enemy.. an enemy that can be kept out due to knowledge of the subject and appropriate measures to be followed strictly..
Minor cost for sacrifice anodes who have to be placed outside the hull and be connected by copper strips or wiring with all metal parts of your boat that are getting into contact with seawater is a guarantee a long as you exchange them regularly once a year. Happy sailing

boat engine will idle but won't do anymore than that. I've replaced the spark plugs, fuel pump and fuel filters. The engine sounds good idling but that is it and it will run up to 1800 rpms and then stall. The engine is 2003 3.0 mercruiser. It's only been sitting for about a month. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to purchase a carb rebuild kit to see if I can get it running again. Mechanics are expensive plus I don't feel like waiting 2 to 4 wks to get it fixed. I've rebuilt smaller carbs in the past and I'm pretty confident I can do this one.

Check the carburetor. It sounds like the fuel system is not getting enough gas to the engine above your 1800 rpm's. Since you've cleaned the filter & pump all that's left is the carb allowing the fuel through. Often times there is a small in-line fuel filter inside the carb. Make sure this is clean.

If it is, you might need to take the thing apart to make sure that there is not a float problem. The fuel supply in the float bowls is needed to supply gas to the engine during acceleration. Once up to speed the float bowl is filled back up and the engine needs less fuel that when getting up to speed.

While you're at it, make sure the carb screws are tight, the carb to manifold bolts are tight, the spark arrestor is clean and that the choke is releasing when the engine gets hot.
