I need to make some internal covers for my boat cushions/beds.
these are approx 7 ft in length.

I have the foam which is in good condition so just need to make the covers. what sort of fabric should i use/avoid. Not bothered about it being waterproof as its a dry area..

I'm getting my boat ready for liveaboard. I've already washed the cushion covers from the previous owner, but I need to wash or clean the spongy yellow foam that make up the cushion. I can see some mold has built up and I don't want to buy new right now. Any help is appreciated on this one!

Bleach will kill it but since the foam is made of a synthetic, it will damage it. You might want to try DampRid's Mold & Mildew Remover and Protector for fabrics. It doesn't damage synthetics, you spray it on and it kills both the mold you see and the spores you don't that will cause it to come back. You can find it at Lowes Home Improvement center in the cleaning aisle.

I have to find the right foam to use for makeing cushions for a seating area in the flybridge of my boat. I have read a little about Qualux Foam. Also I need a foam for inside couch cushions ..perhaps the same foam, but perhaps not neccessarrily quite as resilliant. THANKS!

Any closed cell foam will work on the flybridge. Consult your local trimmer on what brand names they recommend. Check for anti-fungus and anti-shrink properties. Keep in mind that closed cell foam will shrink in time, depends on how the foam is cut. For the interior cushions you can use a regular open cell foam with a density of around 45. 4" thick for seating and 3" for backrests. One tip to prevent fungus growth, shrinking and ease of cover installation is to cover the cushions in plastic. I've use the tall larger garment bags from dry cleaners. It will save your cushions.
